a very straight forward week... at least it appears to be.

Bryant vs. Merrimack - Bryant should win without much effort, I hope they can have starters out early again.
CCSU @ YSU - CCSU holds close for the half and slowly they fade and Youngstown St. has a safe win.
Duquesne @ Delaware - Delaware wins easily at home.
RMU vs. Liberty - Liberty wins fairly easily. Liberty had a big win and a big game next week, they will be wise enough to know to not overlook this game because they have a shot at a great season.
Sacred Heart @ SFPA - SFPA gets the win at home. It is a "long" trip for SHU and SFPA squeaks by.
Wagner vs. Cornell - I wanted to pick Wagner, but it is Cornell's first game and they will get the win on the road.

Bryant vs. Merrimack - blowout.
CCSU @ YSU - too close for comfort for a MVFC team though.
Duquesne @ Delaware - blowout with Devlin, a little bit closer without.
RMU vs. Liberty - Liberty in a tighter game then they hoped for. Class trap game here.
Sacred Heart @ SFPA - god that road trip is awful.
Wagner vs. Cornell - Wagner bounces back. I really do not understand how Hamline can't coach a win over inferior teams.

Tough week for the NEC. Good OOC scheduling though.

Week 3 Games

Bryant vs. Merrimack – I hope Bryant gets away from this kind of scheduling going forward.

CCSU @ YSU - YSU is probably too strong w/ too many scholarships.

Duquesne @ Delaware – Two very dangerous offenses. Dukes, even with improving defense, can’t stop Hens. Delaware, on the other hand…. Nice scheduling but a 20-point plus loss for Dukes.

RMU vs. Liberty – RM still hasn’t convinced me. Liberty prevails.

Sacred Heart @ SFPA – Home field just not enough for SF.

Wagner vs Cornell – Wagner disappointing to date BUT Cornell sucks. :kisswink:

Bryant vs. Merrimack - Bryant crushes 2nd Division II Northeast 10 foe in as many weeks.

CCSU @ YSU - Result similar to the YSU - Butler matchup last week

Duquesne @ Delaware - Goodness knows that I would love to choose the Dukes here, but the reality is that Delaware probably will just be too strong and too deep (with or without Pat Devlin). That being said, I firmly believe that this will be much closer than the Hens fans think it will be.

RMU vs. Liberty - Before the season I would've thought that this would be a close game. I don't think that anymore.

Sacred Heart @ SFPA - Too much Fink for the Red Flash to handle.

Wagner vs. Cornell - What's up with Wagner? From some folks' pre-season favorite to a 24-9 loser to Division II Northeast 10 opponent Assumption? I hope that I'm wrong with this pick, and Wagner gets its act together.

FWIW, I don't think LU can play a trap game this year. IMO they are going to be looking for style points every single week.

I'm sure they are planning on beating JMU in two weeks, but they have to know that if they don't, they better beat everyone else they face badly if they want to avoid the play-in games.

I'd be surpised if this game were closer than 35 points.

Anybody ever wondered: If Robert Morris and Wagner joined forces as one school, would they change the name to Robert Wagner? :ugeek:

You know, the sad part of this joke is that most of the younger folks on this site probably don't even know who Robert Wagner is!

 That is sad. Robert Wagner probably did more for this country than Robert Morris or, for that matter, anyone else who ever stepped foot on American soil with the surname Wagner. A gull darned patriot that Robert Wagner.

Bryant vs. Merrimack - Bulldogs over former D-II conference foe

CCSU @ YSU - Yes, I'm calling the upset. Central establishes a solid running game and will try to eat up the clock. A couple of 2nd half PA passes provide a few points. It won't be pretty, but I do think the Blue Devils sneak out with a win.

Duquesne @ Delaware - Hens win big at home.

RMU vs. Liberty - Colonials get burned by the Flames.

Sacred Heart @ SFPA - - SHU can throw the ball and score. Flash can't seem to stop anyone yet.

Wagner vs. Cornell - I wanted to take the Seahawks, but an ugly first game (lost to D-II opponent on the road) doesn't give me any confidence to pick 'em. I won't be too suprised if they win, but they are just too tough to read.

Bryant vs. Merrimack
Bryant is showing that they can handle D-II schools each week. Bryant might be looking ahead to next week against CCSU but Bryant is at home and everyone knows they play tough at home.

Bryant 35-13

CCSU @ YSU
YSU has a lot of talent and transfers and it will be too much for CCSU. They will keep it close in the 1st half (21-13 YSU up at the half) but I think the 2nd half CCSU starts giving up big plays.

YSU 45-20

Duquesne @ Delaware
Hopefully no one in the game gets hurt for the Dukes. Delaware too much for the Dukes and will could be over by the 3rd.

Delaware 49-10

RMU vs. Liberty
I know...I know...Liberty is ranked...full scholarship FCS team but why not. RMU has a ton of talent this year. This is the biggest game in football program's history. The coaches, players and fans all realize that and everyone is ready. Reports are that practices this week have been unreal for the Colonials. The players are excited and focused.
I think if the Colonials can force Liberty to punt vs. giving up big plays then the Colonials have a chance here. If Liberty comes out and strikes early then it will be a long day at Joe Walton stadium

Colonials hang tough and their D secures the victory here with a last second goal-line stop.

RMU 34-30

Sacred Heart @ SFPA
Every year I say this is the year for SFPA but Sacred Heart has a talented backfield and QB. It will be close but Sacred Heart will be too much.

Scared Heart 31-17

Wagner vs. Cornell
Cornell has a new head coach and this will be their first game. So this means Wagner has little film to go off of. You could see high scoring offense from Cornell and they could jump out early on Wagner.
I think this is Wagner's statement game before Robert Morris comes to town but Wagner will be thinking NEC title and too busy staring at their new video scoreboard.

Cornell 28-24

^ very nice and impressive. I wish Bryant would upgrade their scoreboard, they put a new one in for the practice field/track area but not for the football team =/

Well...

Two correct picks, but I was certainly wrong about how close the Dukes/Hens game was going to be. Delaware is going to be tough in the CAA this year, and I'll be pulling for them.

Congratulations Hens!
