I'm like most and don't know which Liberty team to believe in. Unlike a lot on here, I'm still mildly worried about a slight letdown after the Tech game, but not as big as it would've been last week.

Last year, the score margin was aided by a late touchdown that may or may not have been allowed by the Flames to assist in their comeback. I do think our defense is better this year overall, although we'll be without Nick Emmons for this game and we have a couple of other dinks on the DL that could hurt us. Also, Theo Sherman and Earl Watford (OLs) were held out of practice last week. If they don't play that's some extra concern, but the last report was that they'd play.

Alleviating a lot of my concerns is that we're playing at home. Something Liberty didn't have the benefit of doing last week after their big win (regardless of what you think of Ball State, it was a big win). The last time we lost a regular season non-conference game at home was 2002 against Hampton. Included in that streak was "The Comeback" against App. St. I will grant that we haven't played a ton of challenging teams OOC, so maybe that's not as great, but since '04 we're 32-6 overall at home (in that same time period Liberty is 14-18 on the road).

The stadium will be packed and rocking Sat. night. I can guaranty that there will be more people there than the 9,000 and change that were in Muncie. This one's been sold out for awhile, the student allotment is gone and Liberty sold their 1200 tickets. That might help both teams to perform but I think it obviously favors JMU.

I think we win by 10-14 points (none of this nonsense with scores...give POINTS people), but if the team's looking ahead to UD or behind at Tech, it could get interesting.

I'm not really expecting the blowout some are predicting either. Sometimes, the team that wants it more gets it.

No matter how much JMU prepares for or gets up for this game, Liberty will want it more....they REALLY, REALLY want this game.

Do I think desire can overcome the talent discrepancy and home field advantage? no. But that could be enough to keep the game competitive longer than Dukes fans will be comfortable with. I think JMU pulls away late and wins in the 13-19 range.

They sold out their allotment of tickets and are coordinating caravans from L-burg to H-burg... IMO, this is the game they've had marked on their calendar since the schedule came out.

I''m not going to lie that this is the game we LU fans have had circled since the schedule came out. Your win over Tech only further increased its luster. For better or worse, in the FCS kingdom of the Commonwealth you are the royalty of the moment (UR still has the shiniest crown). We just want to enter the courts.

I think JMU will win by at least 14, maybe 21. I mean, they beat Tech and LU lost to RMU...plus JMU is at home...there's not way JMU can lose, right?

Also ToTheLeft, a big dont on message boards is to bet with fake accounts. They just end up disappearing if they lose and call you out if they win. And anyways, you should have bet that she take her shirt off.

Oh, there's plenty of ways we can lose...just like we could lose at home to a non-scholly...oh wait, we beat the non-scholly 48-7.

Seriously, we SHOULD win this game, but I can see a number of ways we lose, not the least of which is the aforementioned sammich game issue, which is why Liberty lost to RMU. They are a much better team than that.

On that note, you cannot ignore the "colonial figure" advantage that JMU has. Liberty obviously doesn't bring their A-game when playing schools named after historic men, so I think we've got it in the bag. :kisswink:

You know, Penn throws toast on the field at football games - since we're talking about stealing traditions, since you guys took the streamer idea from the Big 5 you could try taking that one too - how about it?

JMU already throws hot dogs on the b-ball court. Toast on the field only seems to be the next most logical step...

Really? A lot of people toast their hot dog buns. Kinda weird you've never met some who doesn't, or been in a place that didn't. And what would toasting hot dog buns explain anyways?

I can honestly say that I have never paid much attention to hot dog or hot dog accessory preparation. :twocents:

I'm not really sure where we're going with this thread either.

Bandl has a fetish for buns...regardless of size, shape, toastedness, edibility or gender. Just ignore him.

For the record, JMU opens as an 18-point favorite on 5dimes.

I've got to admit that the betting part of my body would take Liberty +18 in a heartbeat...
