JBB, your getting more readership every week, with returning customers. This will bode well with The Golden Arm Committee.
Re: #17 USD @ #18 NDSU BISON*
Did I mention Iowa State lost last year the week following their narrow victory over The BISON? To use the phrase in a sentence for you: "The BISON knocked the stuffing out of them."DJH wrote: Nevermind the fact that in both UNI's and Minnesota's cases, they all played excellent teams in those following weeks.
Last year, UNI lost to SIU 27-20 (not 27-7..), who was ranked in the top 5 in the entire country.
Last week, UNI lost to SFA, who is ranked in the top 10 in the entire country. A team that is/was ranked higher than UNI.
And in 2006, Minnesota (who was terrible, btw) played freaking #1 Ohio St the following week. I suppose is was convenient to leave out all of these facts.
But, I'm sure all those losses were the doing of the bizon. It must be bad up there in Fargo when you are forced to claim some sort of moral "victories", with that ridiculous spin.
Did I mention Sam Houston State lost 56-3 last year week after they beat The BISON.
I guess, besides defining the phenomenon for you, its important to mention both USD and NDSU are entering this game on winning streaks.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Iowa State played the Orange Bowl winning Hawkeyes, and SHSU played an FBS team in Tulsa.
Keep trying.

It doesnt happen all the time, but there are some prime examples from recent history and it happens a lot with NDSU.
Take for instance the first BISON @ Gophers 2006. The Gophers won but lost the following week 44-0.
Look at UNI. Last year they came to Fargo and won a big game. Following week lost 27-7. Same thing happened this year but the score was 22-20. Its the phenomonon of getting the stuffing knocked out of you.
It can happen between equally matched teams too. Sometimes it doesnt matter who won the game, it isnt decided until each team plays the following week and you find out who got the stuffing knocked out of them. Prime example BISON @ Gophers. NDSU wins. Gophers lose the following week.
NDSU won after both Gopher games and beat SIU and SUU.

Some of you guys lack critical thinking skills. You are claiming every school NDSU has played and lost to was over matched the following week and that explains their loss. You are trying to tell me its not attributable to the phenomenon of "Getting the Stuffing Knocked out You"?SUUTbird wrote:JBB wrote:I would like to clarify what I mean when I say a team got the stuffing knocked out of them. Illinois State lost last year the week after beating the BISON.
Missouri State lost last year the week after beating the BISON.
In fact the only two teams that avoided the Stuffing Phenomenon were SDSU and SIU. Neither team had much success after their NDSU game and both were early outs in the playoffs.
This goes back many, many years. Do the research. More often than not a team that beats the BISON loses the following week because they got the stuffing knocked out of them. In fact it works a lot both ways. Teams often lose the week following their game with the BISON win or lose.
Avoid the phenomenon at your own peril. If your trying to pick football games its a good tool to employ. If you dont use it over the long haul you will never be able to pick games as successfully as I can. Im just trying to teach you guys a little bit about the game. Its the subtle things that make it interesting.
A lot of you guys are knowledgeable but are also BFHs. A little more work on your analytical skills any you too could be privy to these types off subtle insight.
Next up is USD.

YSU beat NDSU last game of the season and the got the stuffing knocked out of them so bad they lost the first game this season!

Its early. Keep an eye on the Morgan State game.
USD comes in a strong opponent. The "Stuffing Meter" shows this game dead even. In this case it is not a factor, but watch next week for the answer to the "Stuffing Question".

1) I'm already tired of the USD coverage. Their lame fans who do not understand how the FCS works or even which teams are in the FCS. A rout over Central Northwestern Upper Elevation Oklahoma is not really a victory, it's a scrimmage. But to them, it's as great as beating the Gophers which is an even s**^&tier team than people give them credit for.
2) I don't want UND getting any great ideas in their heads(has UND ever had any great idea? Oh yeah riding on the heels of the bigger Dakota schools into D1 territory years later) that they can beat State because of a USD win over NDSU(we may need that win, alot). Of course we're the only Dakota school that man's up and plays outside, so come Nov. 6 the Fightin' No Names will probably be wishing for their warm beds and their mamas.
3) UND and USD f%$^cked everything up by not jumping D1 at the same time. Yes, I will always hold that grudge. So I will always side with NDSU over either of those schools.
Now excuse me....I have and FBS game to mentally prepare myself for.

Re: #17 USD @ #18 NDSU BISON*
Top 3 receivers for USD are Will Powell, Tom flanagan and London Landry. Dustin Nowotny is the guy they like 20 yds down field and beyond that they have the long game going with Powell.
Will Powell, So 6-1, 04
Dustin Nowotny JR, 6-3, 215
Tom Flanagan So, 5-9, 185
London Landry, Sr., 6-4, 245
NDSU Defensive Backfield looks pretty much like this across the board:
Freddie Banks Sr, 5-9, 179
Brendin Pierre So. 5-9, 163
Derrius Colvin, Sr., 5-10, 179
The only 2 Defensive backs over 6 feet for NDSU are Joey Blackmore a Soph and Josh Gatlin a Sr. No defensive backs are over 200. All of our safeties are under 6 foot and 200 pounds as well.
There are chances for the mismatch here. Dante Warren is averaging 204 yds/game passing and a bit better than 2 TD passes. He has rushed 20 times so he might try and run 10 times. He averages 6.2/carry. He is facing a very strong linebacking corps. All of them are over 6 feet and all are 210-225 or so and that goes right down the D line 2. Those guys are even bigger. Waren is 6 ft, 196 libs. Im sure he can take a hit.
I know the NDSU defense, and defensive backs have speed. If USD can beat them this game might be over. On the other hand expect a real bruising game with 15 yds of the line of scrimmage. These receivers the "Yotes have are in for a very physical afternoon and they dont match up that well with our LB and D-Line.
South Dakota has the same type of attack as UNI. They both rely on a good running back and a play making QB. If NDSU gets its offense going, and Jensen has shown he can do that. They will present something very similar and this could be a very exciting game.

I just received a phone call from a friend of mine deep inside "BISON Command". The Prestigious "Fabulous" Fargo Dome is approaching a "SOLD OUT CONDITION". I am told between the 10 yard lines only single tickets remain. The end zones still have some room.
At this hour NDSU has announced "WILL CALL ONLY"!

You are tired of the coverage the Coyotes have received. I guess that would be the lack of attention the bunnies are now getting. And how has USD and UND screwed things up. Your moral victory at Minnesota last year may the highlight of your 5 year transition. The Yotes, in year three, and with only 4 seniors, new d coordinator, new quarterback, and half the offensive line gone from last year, hang 41 on the Gophs. USC could only put 32 on them. So if you want to call it a grudge, go ahead, sounds like jealousy to me.

What was the USD/UNI score last time the played?
Re: #20 USD @ #18 NDSU BISON*
For those of you who don't get what John is doing, he is setting you all up for next week when UND goes down to USD and beats them for the 30th year in a row (or something like that). Then, he is going to say that NDSU "knocked the stuffing out of them, which is the only reason UND won".
He is a clever SOB I will say that much.
P.S. - Bison fans, you better not lose on Saturday to the Yotes because you know we won't next weekend.

This is BIG 3 Football: NDSU, SDSU and USD.
Those are the elite collegiate programs in the Dakotas. Play and win as you might, it doesnt count unless you are BIG 3!!
Fact does remain, it is a gift when a teams next opponent is coming off a BISON game.
No word on the QB situation this morning. Last time there was anything like this was with Tony Stauss. He was a transfer to NDSU from Big 10 Northwestern. He led the BISON to victory against Montana, but later in that season struggled. Steve Walker ultimately replaced him. That must have been 2002 or 2003.

Re: #20 USD @ #18 NDSU BISON*
A winning record is not enough to distinguish a collegiate athletic program from the Dakotas for membership in THE BIG 3: NDSU, SDSU and USD.
A winning record might get a mention with other fine collegiate athletic programs in the Dakotas like Sioux Falls University, UND, Dickinson State, Mayville or possibly Jamestown or Valley City State. Good programs all, but not distinguished. That bunch has proven to be competitive in both football and basketball but not BIG 3 stature.
As you know THE BIG 3 programs have all, since beginning their transition, through extraordianary achievement, not routine play, earned their honors.
This game is truly "THE BATTLE OF THE GIANT KILLERS".
Go With THE BIG 3: NDSU, SDSU & USD!!!
