Oh, that's right. With a Griz conference championship and a GRIZ trip to the playoffs.

That was 2005. That season ended with EWU also winning the conference championship, and an EAGLE trip to the playoffs. Except we got the autobid because we beat both of the Montanas.

Funny thing is, the last time the crowd rushed the field in Cheney was the final regular season game when we beat NAU(?), and found out the Griz lost to the Cats handing us a share of the conference championships. So even when the Griz aren't in town they cause us to rush the field. That being said, it's fun to watch BF gettin' a few of you to hear footsteps. If we lose to the cats this week, ya think we might see an "Eagle Reign Is Over" thread?

I don't understand how you can claim a stadium with fans only on one side of the stadium is anywhere near as loud as 13,000 fans from 3 sides.

The only time that away seating is used is well... when there is an away team filing it. Last year for the MSU game, EWU has a stellar 6,632 fans at home. In fact that was also probably due to the large number of MSU fans at the game, since your average for the year was 5,366 (about on par with our NAIA team in Helena). MSU averaged 13,283 fans last year, about 2.5 times more than your rockin' stadium in Cheney.

I usually don't get involved with smack talk, but it was too easy to defeat this one with facts.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for EWU to get 10,000+ fans to a game, it makes the conference look better, and makes it funner to go to a game there. But until that happens for anyone else than the Griz, trying to smack MSU's gameday atmosphere is a nothing more than a weak attempt at smack.

I'll give you credit that your atmosphere was probably pretty good against UM, but against everyone else it stinks.

Interesting that someone ever preferred Chase Reynolds over Jones. Jones is the real deal. I know he isn't the biggest back but he is fast and makes plays. Taiwan Jones is a legit mid-late round prospect already.

Thats right, EWU got 12k at a game. When the capacity is 11k. So its BEYOND a sellout. Now if EWU had an expanded visitors side like MSU does THAT SECTION would've been sold out also. Meaning a record attendance (at EWU) HIGHER THAN ANY MSU game!

As far as the EWU/msu game... the proof is in the pudding.. only 6,600 fans bc nobody cares about MSU. In other words, EWU kicks the crap out of MSU everytime so its not fun anymore. MSU is just like Sac, Psu, or any other opponent. BUT EWU/um.... thats the game everbody wants to see. Not crappy msu.

It actually probably is a fair point that more than 11,700 would have been at that game if there were more seating. It's my understanding that in that configuration the Stadium only holds around just over 11k - so it was well beyond standing room only. I also know people that wanted to go to the game, but dicked around too long and couldn't get tickets.

Bottom line is that I think in order for us to replicate that same game day experience on a consistent level we'll need to continue to build on some of the momentum that the red turf, etc. has generated. That means continued upgrades to the facility.......(jumbo tron going up next year), expanded seating on the west side of the field, and all the little things in between. IMO I think we finally have an AD/Administration that understands that we need to take a different approach to marketing our athletics programs. Some of you may not like the red turf thing, but regardless, it has achieved it's desired intent, and then some. I'm not saying that we're going to be anywhere near on par with WA-Grizz or even MSU n terms of game day experience any time in the near future, but there's definitely a buzz going on with our program that I've never seen before. I just hope we can continue to build on that, however slow it may be.

Beating teams equates to no one showing up, you just said that yourself, proving once again your gameday experience is only good one game every 2 years because you apparently only like to show up to games against teams that have traditionally owned you at home.

MSU doesn't have a visitors "side". Every side in the stadium is for Cat fans. We have a small section by the visitor's locker room with enough room for like 200 visiting fans or something.

Like I said, you can talk smack about who has the better football team all you want, cuz I can't argue with recent history. But talking attendance or atmosphere, you aren't even close.

Properly summarized. I would classify co-champs as a push, but the only caveat is TRUE co-champs. Head-to-head matters for the bet, even if the conference doesn't care.
