Perhaps 30K'ish...In that area is where the stadium could be full.
So would you think that an expansion to 40K is all that would be needed? That doesn't sound too burdensome. I was thinking that once you move up (if you do), you might as well expand and get everybody in there you can. I haven't even looked at the numbers, but I would think 30-40K would put you in the upper echelon of WAC teams.
I have a very hard time believing that the stadium could be built to hold, and to not look really stupid, 40k. 30 or 35k, to me, is the absolute limit.
And Andy...NOPE! If the do make the jump you all can call me a crybaby, loser, bandwagon fan, whatever...but I won't be going. I will go to MSU games and if the got a Griz/Bobcat game but they wouldn't get any more of my money.

This doesn't concern you. Good luck in South America this weekend.
No. No. Columbia. With a U. Soccer tourney in Howard County Maryland. We should do well.
First girly drinks...and now soccer??? Andy. Andy. Andy....

Again, I have to ask - if they aren't at least seriously considering the move, then why go public with this sort of announcement. Why even entertain the notion?

There has been one a couple years ago..and one currently ongoing. Oh..a feasibility study on the pros and cons of a move up. I, for the life of me, don't understand tossing a pile of cash at a study.

Yep, I know about the feasibility studies - what I'm saying is if Montana's not seriously considering jumping ship, then why go public with the invite? Why go "present" to the WAC?

From what I have been told this was an INVITE. Nothing more. The Griz have NOT said yes or no and have NOT presented the WAC with anything. At least to my knowledge.

I WILL be in Columbia at a u10 girls soccer tourney this weekend, but I was making a joke about Towson playing Columbia. Remind me to check my humor when I post in here.
Has anyone every had a sweettart shooter before? Yum!
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Pretty soon you will be telling us all about how awesome it is to snort smarties.

If your school decides this is the best option, and feels like a move will improve athletics you will stop supporting them? Yes the WAC will be less of a conference than it is currently, but it will still be an improvement over the BSC.
I just don't see how you can call yourself Grizzaholic and then turn your back on your school??? Now if they decided to move DOWN to D2 I could understand being upset.

I am not for moving up to play in the Tampax Bowl in Cheney. I don't care if they go to the WAC or the SEC...moving up is moving up. Sorry if you don't get it. I have never been for moving up. I am sick and tired of paying super high ticket prices and then seeing the University always saying it is broke and is constantly raising tuition/student fees/etc.... If they think it is best for them, GOOD FOR THEM. I like watching the games and taking in the experience each Home Saturday and especially love the Playoffs.
If you think that moving up is going to somehow make football tickets cheaper you are nuts. If you think that the University is thinking about its well being and not how to make more money off of the backs of the football players/coaches/fans you are nuts.
Call it whining but I would rather hit up some fishing or do some backpacking on these weekends that I have missed out on for all these years if the Griz do Move-UP.

I will support them, but I think the whole dynamic will change, and not in a good way. I think we are right where we should be. If we can roll off about 3-4 championships in a row, maybe we should look at the move. Until then, I like having playoffs and playing at the level we are now.

6, 7 tops, home games a year before the playoffs? 3 home playoff games, tops? You still have 42 to 46 other weekends to frolic out there with Bambi and the Care Bears. That excuse doesn't fly!!!

Oh I am sorry. We have seasons out here. There are a few places that I would like to visit while I can still walk. On the weekends that the Griz are away I do get out...but never for more than a day. Having to schedule trips during Griz season while still doing all of the housework/helping parents out with their fall clean-up...yeah. Damn near impossible.
But this is not the point of the post. IF the Griz move up, I will be missing them in both senses of the word.

Agreed. But from what I have heard, Montana's going to accept the invite anyway. Terrible idea, IMO - the WAC is a joke without Fresno, BSU, and Nevada.
Not true. Montana isn't going to accept the offer.
Then there is no offer. No conference would offer an invitation that would be declined. If there truly is an offer and has been made public (which in this case, seems like it has), Montana will accept. If Montana truly were going to decline, then both parties would say something like "we had discussions, but both decided it was not in their interests to make an offer at this time."
The 2013 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl: Montana Grizzlies vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. Sounds great guys!
But seriously, UM's gotta do what's best for it and it's program. The truth is, joining the WAC would open a lot of doors regarding joining a better conference in the future...but that's gonna take a lot of patience. This whole situation is a double-edged sword though...no more playoffs and no more National Championships (FCS or FBS), so in that regard, I don't see the appeal. But again, Montana's gotta do what's best for Montana.
And don't hate on grizzaholic. Football is just a game, not life. He's not required to support something he doesn't like. You only live once and gotta enjoy what you love.

Wow. What a truly awesome supporter you are. So, if the university makes a decision that you don't agree with, you are out? Well, good riddance.
I honestly couldn't care if they move up or not. I will always be a Griz. I wished I still lived in Montana so I could support them with my presence every weekend. Win, lose or draw, my butt would be in the seat and I'd be wearing maroon and silver.
Now, I can make arguments (both pro and con) for moving up. I could do the same for staying. But pulling crybaby crap like this...

Forgive the rant. Continue the discussion.
To each his own. I don't agree with moving up. I enjoy having 7-10 games in Missoula each year. But if the WAC calls and UM accepts see that number become 6...7 or a good year. I am sure all of the businesses in Missoula will be thrilled that there will be fewer Griz games in town.

I hope we don't and we do have an out still, we could come back and say the study looks horrible for us so we really can't.
Dig a little deeper on that one. It wasn't actually an offer. It was the BSU pres approaching the USU pres to guage their interest in the MWC. When the USU pres said "no thanks," that's when the MWC knew something was up.
I don't have the link (it's out there, just too lazy right now), but I followed that whole saga from the beginning (not much work done in those three weeks or so)...because the conference realignment stuff absolutely fascinates me. Alot of it reads like a spy novel.
