And Andy...NOPE! If the do make the jump you all can call me a crybaby, loser, bandwagon fan, whatever...but I won't be going. I will go to MSU games and if the got a Griz/Bobcat game but they wouldn't get any more of my money.

If your school decides this is the best option, and feels like a move will improve athletics you will stop supporting them? Yes the WAC will be less of a conference than it is currently, but it will still be an improvement over the BSC.

I just don't see how you can call yourself Grizzaholic and then turn your back on your school??? Now if they decided to move DOWN to D2 I could understand being upset.
HOw exactly is a conference with NMSU, Utah State, San Jose State, La Tech and Idaho an improvement over anything lower than say, the SWAC?

I could understand a jump to the old WAC. But this collection of schools is at best a lateral move, and in some aspects (travel, loss of home games, loss of close games) a down grade.

I hope we don't and we do have an out still, we could come back and say the study looks horrible for us so we really can't.
Dig a little deeper on that one. It wasn't actually an offer. It was the BSU pres approaching the USU pres to guage their interest in the MWC. When the USU pres said "no thanks," that's when the MWC knew something was up.

I don't have the link (it's out there, just too lazy right now), but I followed that whole saga from the beginning (not much work done in those three weeks or so)...because the conference realignment stuff absolutely fascinates me. Alot of it reads like a spy novel.

I agree but it is hard to track it all down in that scenario as everything is not out in the open on that deal, has to be more too it. I still hope we have an out and don't do it, but that is just my opinion :)

The WAC is a blank canvas. Forget what it was. My guess, if Montana accepts and other new members join the conference will change its name and begin building toward a new future.

I understand what grizzaholic is saying.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Agree.. :ohno: ..hope this does not come to pass... :ohno: ..only thing worse would be if App decided to go as well by joining the Sunbelt or some other crappy conference with no historical rivalries....

Wow. What a truly awesome supporter you are. So, if the university makes a decision that you don't agree with, you are out? Well, good riddance.

I honestly couldn't care if they move up or not. I will always be a Griz. I wished I still lived in Montana so I could support them with my presence every weekend. Win, lose or draw, my butt would be in the seat and I'd be wearing maroon and silver.

Now, I can make arguments (both pro and con) for moving up. I could do the same for staying. But pulling crybaby crap like this...

Forgive the rant. Continue the discussion.
To each his own. I don't agree with moving up. I enjoy having 7-10 games in Missoula each year. But if the WAC calls and UM accepts see that number become 6...7 or a good year. I am sure all of the businesses in Missoula will be thrilled that there will be fewer Griz games in town.
No, I understand all the arguments...like I said, I don't care either way. My point is, it is very "fair weather" of you to stop being a supporter because there might not be 10 games at home in a year. Be anti-move up all you want...fight the move. Write letters, make phone calls, start a website. Just don't stop supporting the team/university...regardless of the outcome.

I have voiced my opinions on the matter with the University. Had dinner with O'Day, family friend of my wife. If this comes to pass, and like I said call me what you will, I will no longer be supporting the U for being so short-sighted. But it will do what it wants and the rest of us be damned.

Agreed, good arguments.

I will still support the Griz as that is where I grew up and went to school, but I really hope we don't make the jump.

I disagree. I doubt Grizza meant that he would actively pull against the Griz, just not going to support them monetarily. I have no problem with this. Griz (& others like App potentially) make these moves for money & no other reason with little regard to their fans or historical rivalries. So why should I, or Grizza or any other fan, continue to send them mopnetary support that enables them to make decisions that I don't agree with & adversely affect my ability to enjoy their product? Don't pull against them, but certainly don't send them money anyway.....

Not true. Montana isn't going to accept the offer.
Then there is no offer. No conference would offer an invitation that would be declined. If there truly is an offer and has been made public (which in this case, seems like it has), Montana will accept. If Montana truly were going to decline, then both parties would say something like "we had discussions, but both decided it was not in their interests to make an offer at this time."
Bingo - they're gone, IMO.

Hey Showalter is doing well. They are like 12-14 games over .500 sinse he took over. And it's against the Yanks, red Sox and Rays mostly.

I guess I just don't understand the mentality of you "fans" who will quit supporting the school because of a move like this. I cherish every opportunity to watch the Griz (rare for me)...and would gladly attend games/donate were I in a position to do so. Even if they made a decision I did not agree with.

So you are the type of guy who goes to a friends restaurant to eat. And the food is terrible but you always pay and continue going. gotcha.

And supporting through the almighty dollar and rooting are two different things....but I wouldn't expect you to know the difference.

Having fewer home games
Not getting to see my "friends" at the games that I only see during Griz Game season
No Playoffs
Getting excited for the Big Red/Geico/PBR bowl
Paying even more for tix/etc
Students paying more and more
Not getting to play the Cats each year (unless they move at the same time)

Not having to decide between the final weekend of hunting season and the 1st round of the playoffs
Road trips to Pac-10 schools (implying Pac-10 GIRLS) every year
Going somewhere warm during the Christmas Holidays for a bowl
Not having to beat the Cats' asses every year
Getting to beat Idaho's ass every year

For the people who vow to stop going to games if we move, how much temptation will there be if we start a season 5-0 at some point after a move? For or against the move, I can't imagine anyone not wanting to be a part of the Griz gameday, cheering on your school and and maybe having the chance to see Idaho or Colorado State or Wyoming as opposed to Western State.

Let me see

Missing fewer weekends with the spousal unitI would miss more due to hunting/fishing
Getting to see even MORE of your friends because of increased stadium capacityI was talking about the folks I sit around
Not having to decide between the final weekend of hunting season and the 1st round of the playoffsNever was a big fan of going the last weekend
Road trips to Pac-10 schools (implying Pac-10 GIRLS) every yearI am perfectly content with my wife, have you met her?
Going somewhere warm during the Christmas Holidays for a bowlI don't like heat. I like winter and cold and during the late winter I enjoy the best river fishing
Not having to beat the Cats' asses every yearI have met quite a few nice Cat fans. TomCat88 comes to mind
Getting to beat Idaho's ass every yearCannot think of a response to this. We could still GO TO play at Idaho to start the season if we get a contract together

See...THIS is one of the few reasons why I would support this move. There are a TON more regional FBS teams than there are FCS teams. Idaho, Utah State, Wyoming, Boise State, Washington State, Utah, BYU are all a bus-ride away (and those wouldn't have to be ALL away games either. Colorado, Colorado State, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Nevada, UNLV....we would have to fly, but ALL these are closer than NAU, Sac State, UC Davis, Cal Poly, SUU...and much easier to get to (well, except the Sacramento schools).

And if I never see another Western State game it'll be too soon.
