Didn't we play on the road this year? I think we did. I will have to do some checking.

And wasn't UC Davis last year? And how many home games have we had in the past 2 years?

Last post in this thread for me. Grizzaholic, do what you gotta do. I don't know what O'Day and the U will decide to do, either way I feel confident the Griz will be ok.

Public apology to anyone who may have been offended by my statement that you are a bad fan if you quit attending games. I guess it's a little jealousy on my part, because the only team that I could support by buying tickets is South Alabama, and I can't get excited about that.

Right, but really the only home games you can get to balance out FBS games are D2. Other FCS are going to (increasingly) want home-and-homes. So you're tipping your OOC schedule towards away games with play-up games with Idaho as opposed to playing them as FBS.

One thing Montana does have going for it, it can get 2 for 1's. I think this BS about not returning home and homes is finally way way behind the program.

Now we have the Dakota's and Dakota State's, and SUU to play for OOC games. We also have App and McNeese on the horizon. With Cal Poly and UC Davis rolling in to the BSC, it seems to me that this is where one would want to stay and we seem to have quite a few OOC teams available.

The days of getting western FCS teams to do 1 and done deals are gone. Hell, there's only 2 FCS teams LEFT in the West that aren't members of the conference now. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

It will be interesting to see how that works if we're still FCS when Poly and Davis join. When we're down to 3 schollie FCS OOC teams out west, we'll have no leverage for 2-for-1s. Hell assuming they even have FCS football at that point. Do SUU/UND/USD even have a plan right now? Seems like those fronts have been awfully quiet since they got hung out to dry...

So playing SDSU and NDSU are just completely out of the question for OOC games? Funny.

Yeah good point. It's hard not to overlook them because the MFVC isn't considered a "western" conference for some reason. Of course there is also zero chance of a 2-for-1 with one of them.

In fact, I doubt SDSU will ever schedule with us again anyways. One, we screwed them the last time, two, Wa-Griz is evidently their Bermuda Triangle

Doesn't Montana also play ASU sometime soon in Boone? And I think they're scheduled to come to ODU in 2015 as part of a home/home...not sure what the argument is?

bingo. No 2-1's any more for the Griz.

I guess I'm trying to say the OOC scene for us is not exactly flush. Even O'Day has complained about that fact, and that was before we poached two of our common OOC rivals.

I would say, before it is a done deal, talk off the record with Boise State, a team that does have experience from being a long time, big fish in the Big Sky, then being irrelevant in any national picture for 15+ years. Can Griz Nation stand playing in relative obscurity for 15 years before getting a chance to play on the national stage in FBS? How long before Montana (that is the state of Montana) football fans remember when the Cat-Griz game actually meant something? Will the Griz start their own bowl game (a.k.a. the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise) to try to get their team more exposure during the bowl season (welcoming the Florida Atlantics to Missoula)?

There is a lot of discussion about a reduced number of home games as being a reason to not move up. That is something as some posters are stating that is going to be a fact whether we move up or not. We are going to be faced with 1 for 1 agreements here on out. Our past transgressions combined with fewer western OCC opponents is going to make this a reality. From here on out regular season home games at most will consist of 4 conference, 1 OCC FCS and 1 D-II. Some seasons we may have fewer home games by playing an FBS, but other wise that will be it unless we start scheduling 2 DII teams.

You can't count on the play offs for additional home games for future planning. Those are bonus games and not something you can count on as we may find out this year. What if the NCAA goes back to seeding all 20 teams? Then you really can't count on the home games. That is a bad business plan to rely on the playoffs.

For the poster who stated that they will quit supporting the team because of fewer home games, does that mean you won't support them if they quit going to the playoffs? On top of that, what kind of friend are you? "If I can't hang out with you 8-9 times a year, then I don't want to hang out with you at all" Sounds a little spoiled.

Not a move up proponent or opponent. I will support the university and team with either decision.

Good points BearIt. The assumption that we will make the playoffs EVERY year is a bit arrogant. Kind of like betting your budget on a pay raise every year. I will pledge to go to as many home games as possible (I have season tickests) whether we are in the BSC or the WAC. Will you? Shame on you if the answer is no.

Fuck the holier than thou "great fan" shame on you bullshit. I've never missed a single game in that stadium because I like the product they sell me. I always have. I gripe a little bit about the ticket prices going up but it's fine with me cuz I still get what I consider to be my money's worth. If we move to the WAC I may buy season tickets still but I am not sure I will. The product they are selling me is gonna change and I really don't like the looks of the change.

TX State, UTSA, NMSU and so forth are most definitely not worth the impending raise that will be coming in ticket prices. We pay $50/seat premium prices right now for the big games and if we do get a Colorado State or a Washington to come to Missoula then you can damn sure bet that those premium games are going up...that's IF we can beg them to give us a 1-2 deal where we will have to give up an extra home game some years.

Griz football is a product, it's not a "friend" as Bearit stated. If Grizza doesn't feel the link to the product that he previously did because of the changes then I can't fault him for stepping away from it and it is likely that I will also not feel the link that I did when we had the OPPORTUNITY to play for a championship IF we have a good team that year.

Nobody said shit about counting on playoff games. We have had them if we were good, and that can be counted on now. It will never be able to be counted again.

Bear it...did you seriously use NCAA seeding as part of the argument.

Playoffs will be played in Missoula at any given chance the NCAA has. Seeding will not be back because there is NO financial incentive for the NCAA to do so. Even when they did "seed" teams, the teams ended up being seeded in the order that made travel costs cheapest for the NCAA. Odd how that shit works out isn't it?

The good news for some of the fans on the waiting list is that there will be an opportunity for some of them to grab new season tickets so if a move to the fucking pathetic WAC and no chance at playing for a title is what they want then they'll have their chance. :thumb:
