Dawn is breaking over the central plains. Its in the mid 40s and cloudy. The morning fire is now glowing embers. Activity in the traveling football camp is beginning. "I imagine", said Prof. O.W. Dynes and NDSUs Athletic Manager, "The buses from Vermillion are beginning their journey too?"

Former Coach Rueber was still on-line fully encrypted and in direct contact with the "Bison Football Brain Trust" still hard at work under the stands of the Prestigious and widely known football field many call the Fabulous Fargo Dome. It seems the discussion, after a long night of study and debate, is now focusing on the 1929 USD game played in Vermillion. We all know of course that game ended in a 6-6 tie with the BISON scoring on two wonderful place kicks. That was a Charles Finnegan lead team, and as we all know Finnegan is recognized as one of the all time football geniuses to contribute to the "BISON LORE".

We are told by our sources "onsite" the building is still bathed in light. That's unusual on game day but we expect to see them lowered soon announcing to all that the pre-game preparation is over and now it "Game Day!!!" It's still quiet around the intimidating facility. The crowd will be building all day until the lots are in a state near chaos and game intensity is at a fever pitch.

In sharp contrast, The BISON will be in quiet contemplation with the roar of the crowd a faint whisper deep under the stands where only True BISON are given entry. Team members will be engaged in quiet conversations among themselves. The coaching staff will be moving about discussing last minute details with individual team members. Always encouraging and always teaching the Coaching Staff and team are projecting an "all business" attitude. its a strong looking, confident bunch of football players.

Within the hour our caravan will begin to move northeast toward what promises to be a monumental football game on the vast and beautiful prairie. We are told single seat tickets are available. There are still some pairs on the SE sideline, the Standing Room only signs are out. Bison Command has not announced a sell out but their body language says something different.

"In A.C's halls a tutor young,
'Tis said, once met his fate;
He taught her in the Calculus
To Differentiate

They're married now - at meal time oft
Discord invades their state;
For he has found that she with him
Would differ when she ate."

Sincerity is everything.

So with that keep your sportsmanship at an extraordinarily high level, your support for NDSU and The BISON unfailing and never forget where our strength comes from for ourselves and all of us in the THUNDERING HERD!!

A win is indeed a win, but a loss is just a loss. Let's get the WIN!!!

GO BISON!!!

ONE MORE TIME FOR THE OLD AC!!!

GO BISON!!!

Words coming out now the Limo that pulled up to the back door of the FFD very early this morning had Rocky Hager and a couple other former coaches on board. Apparently, after the Limo left, the discussion really started to turn to the 1929 game. I think they saw something in that game...And now the lights are off!!!!

The BISON are ready!!!!

Its GAME DAY!!!!

Good luck to both teams!!!

FFD is going to be the scene of some old school carnage tonight. The Coyotes are roaming the prairie looking for some Bison meat to feast on. The scene is going to be gruesome, better keep the women and children at home.

GO YOTES!

Only thing stopping the Coyotes tonight is the Coyotes. Hope we can adjust or it could be a blow-out. :ohno:

Thanks to the prevent defense of USD to end the half, the Bison offense eclipsed the elusive 100 yard plateau for the FH!

Seriously though, what is going on with that 1950's offense your running? No imagination at all.

Nice win for the Sioux today.

The offense is way too conservative, the old up the middle Sandy the Buddisty, UNO style offense. :ohno:

SUUTbird wrote:I have the Coyotes are going to take this one i feel as so far to be honest NDSU's offense to say the least has only been good against a average MEAC team which isnt saying alot. The coyotes have one of the most dynamic offenses in the Great West and i think that the Bison are not going to be as pumped as the Yotes this game:

-USD: 31
-NDSU: 13

Add a dynamic Great West offense to the list. :kisswink:

First of all everyone knows Iowa State is no good. Did UNI leave everything on the field after they eked out a victory against NDSU earlier this year?

Secondly The BISON looked fabulous and USD is good.

Gil, the game was never in doubt. NDSU spent the first half taking physical control. Their QB, you know the Heisman candidate, was running for his life. By halftime he was taking some pretty good shots. The BISON were in the backfield all night and with the good pass coverage down field we kept their game short.

More than one person has stated it was classic BISON football won in the second half. One stat that kept coming up was USD 4th qtr woes. NDSU of course gets stronger as the game goes on and the 4th is our best quarter.

This is what I thought early this week and this essentially is what happened:
One of these days The BISON are going to get this running game straightened out. It has shown flashes in every game. They need to sustain it. I think a more effective passing game, like we saw under Jensen last week will help the running game. He is also a very credible running threat. That's another reason I think things will be better for The BISON on offense
Im reluctant about getting too excited about the team just yet. The defense is absolutely awesome. All last season I saw this team building. Last year could have been an ok year because the core of this defense was on the field. The best buy deal took away any chance of team success but you could see the potential of individuals on the team.

Bison fans sure didnt like my optimism at all last season and of course they couldn't help but call names but I stuck to my guns. Last winter I came to the conclusion they were a bubbling under ball club and worst to first was a real possibility. Beating Kansas, I know they arent any good just like Iowa State, was a big deal and a sign of things to come. This team could go a long way.
