It's so cool to see the uninitiated like Sweeney and Halladay get to wear some bubbly. :D

Anything short of a parade this year is going to be a disappointment - this team is that good. No reason why we shouldn't be having a second parade. Already looking forward to it - bring on the Reds or someone from the West - let's get this thing going!

the biggest obstacle to a Broad Street Walk is still the Yanks. I still like our Big 3.

Gotta love being able to cherry-pick posts to bump...

That road to the NL East looks an awful lot like the one Sherman took.

Eh, I'm not sure the Yanks even make it past the ALDS let alone get to the World Series - The more condensed playoff schedule and the fact they may be the AL Wild Card team means they probably will have to pitch a 4th pitcher this offseason, and outside of Sabbathia and a back from injury Pettite, they have no other sure things. The Phils could easily see someone other than the Yanks in the World Series.

Phillies have picked to start the playoffs on Wednesday, October 6th. That sets up nicely in that Hallady and Hamels can pitch on normal rest in Games 4 and 5, if necessary.

The Schedule will be (with Gonzo's estimated pitching):

NLDS

Oct. 6 - Game 1 - Halladay
Oct. 7 - Off
Oct. 8 - Game 2 - Hamels
Oct. 9 - Off
Oct. 10 - Game 3 - Oswalt
Oct. 11 - Game 4 - Halladay (Normal Rest)
Oct. 12 - Off
Oct. 13 - Game 5 - Hamels (Normal Rest)

NLCS

Oct. 16 - Game 1 - Halladay
Oct. 17 - Game 2 - Hamels
Oct. 18 - Off
Oct. 19 - Game 3 - Oswalt
Oct. 20 - Game 4 - Blanton
Oct. 21 - Game 5 - Halladay
Oct. 22 - Off
Oct. 23 - Game 6 - Hamels
Oct. 24 - Game 7 - Oswalt

World Series

Oct. 27 - Game 1 - Halladay
Oct. 28 - Game 2 - Hamels
Oct. 29 - Off
Oct. 30 - Game 3 - Oswalt
Oct. 31 - Game 4 - Blanton
Nov. 1 - Game 5 - Halladay
Nov. 2 - Off
Nov. 3 - Game 6 - Hamels
Nov. 4 - Game 7 - Oswalt

Yeah. No Blanton in the NLDS and he would only pitch twice in the entire post season. Blanton has pitched well lately, but I'd rather see only the big 3 in the playoffs.

Blanton is in the lineup for his bat. ;)

Padres look like they're folding. Who do you want in the 1st round, Giants or Reds???

Reds. When the Phils want to, they feast on that pitching staff (with dudes not named "Travis Wood" anyway). Let the Braves deal with Lincecum, Cain, and Co. Oh, and cross-country trips in the first-round.

Yup, you hate to want to pick a team to face because it sometimes backfires, but I'd face the Reds in a heartbeat rather than the Giants. The Phils could score early and often against the Reds, and I just don't see the Reds' bats being able to get to the Big 3. And besides, the Phils always seem to have bad experiences out in San Fran - and that pitching staff would be a bear to face. I think the Phils can beat anyone, but I'd rather have the Reds in a short series and then deal with the Giants in a longer one.

I should have qualified that the Reds are who I'd pick if you put a gun to my head and made me pick a team. Otherwise, it doesn't matter. Everyone who makes the playoffs has strong production from starters, offense, and bullpens. the intangibles are what matter, and the Phils have proven they have "it" where the other teams don't. It doesn't matter WHO they end up playing.

4 days left in the season, odds look right now at a Phils-Reds NLDS. Reds rotation could look like : Arroyo, Cueto & Volquez. Maybe they throw Travis Wood in the mix since he nearly no-hit the Phils earlier.

If the Guide on my digital cable is any indication, looks like Games 1&2 will be early again. Game 1 could be either a 3:00 or a 6;30pm start. I believe Game 2 will be a 6:30pm start.

Kind of fun beating the Braves without really trying, particularly when it makes them sweat their playoff spot until the final game.

I think the Phils should lose later today and try and set up a three way tie for the last two playoff spots. It would be nice if the Phils first round opponent had to win two extra games just to get to the playoffs.

97 wins for a team that had every regular but Werth and Ibanez on the DL at some point in the season.
