Four times in the last 8 years, we've had 3 different teams be one of the last 8 standing.
2003 - NAU quarterfinalist
2004 - EWU quarterfinalist
2006 - Montana State quarterfinalist
2007 - EWU quarterfinalist
But, I will NOT have that argument again. You guys are entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it might be.
Edit: and BTW, the last time a MVFC team NOT named UNI threatened for the NC was when Clinton was in office too.
Who gives a rats ass about the MVFC? They suck too.

When you get twice as many teams in the playoffs as the next conference with the most bids, I'd hope you throw teams through to the semi's.
Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
Damn, I know it is hard to keep up with so many different CAA teams making it to the semis but I could have sworn that was UR in 2007...89Hen wrote:Quarterfinalist? Quarterfinalist?AZGrizFan wrote:What constitutes a "deep run"?

Why don't you sissy east coasters come play 1 year in the MVFC??
WE pound on each other week in and week out. Everyone ends up with 2-3 losses in conf. While you 'skirts' glide through.

Sure thing.lakesbison wrote:Why don't you sissy east coasters come play 1 year in the MVFC??

Delaware 26 - South Dakota State 3
Delaware 39 - UNI 27
Delaware 20 - SIU 17
Delaware 48 - SIU 7
Delaware 37 - UNI 7
And let's not even get into the Delaware vs YSU all-time record.
Shit, if the Hens played in the MVFC they'd probably have a playoff streak longer than Montana in the Big Fluff.

Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
Seriously, the same MVFC where UD, in 2003, hosted both co-champs in consecutive weeks and blew out both of them (including one after a massive snow storm - apparently those midwest types don't like cold weather)? The same MVFC where UD went on the road in consecutive weeks in '07 and winning in both locations? And then a year later when Richmond went out to the same venue and came away a winner as well? For a "sissy" conference, we sure do seem to have a lot of success against this MVFC of which you speak, playing out there or back east. Amazing, isn't it?lakesbison wrote:Why don't you sissy east coasters come play 1 year in the MVFC??

Let's see over the last 8 years there are 8 teams that have made it to the semis twice or more(which means winning a tough 2nd rd game)...
ASU (4)
Montana (4)
UNI
and...
Delaware
Villanova
JMU
William & Mary
Richmond
Now where have I seen that group before...oh yeah Towson's schedule.
Forget about Towson, URI & Maine, but maybe UMass can join them this year...
UNH is the team that's falling behind after 3 strikes against UNI...

Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
UNI has 2 losses to UD and one to Richmond, but has 3 wins against very good UNH teams, including beating them on the road when they were #1 in the nation, to along with playoff wins against Maine and W&M.
You can pick and choose all you want, but the fact is UNI has done well against the CAA.

Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
DJH - this is rehashing the same arguments that always come up on here. You'll never win.
My stance will continue to be that if you don't play everyone in your conference you will likely end up with the records that 4-5 CAA teams do.
SLC
we have 8 teams, we all play 7 conference games.
next year there will be 9 and we will all play 8 conference games.
If, say, team A doesn't have to play team B and team B doesn't play team C but C has to play A, all end up with 3 losses, they'll all get in.
If they all are forced to play each other, that isn't going to happen.
It's not just an FCS thing, or a CAA thing to me...it's a pet peeve of mine on every level, in college.
If a 3rd team in the SLC, who all play each other, has the same record as a CAA team, you can bet the farm the CAA team will get the playoff nod and the probability of them moving forward increases. It ain't right, IMHO, but it's reality.
(hey, I know the SLC hasn't represented well over the years but I'm using it as an analogy....that's all)
I really would have loved to see TXST stay in the FCS, as we are just starting to really build something, and silence some critics, but....it is what it is.
And now, as the vicodin kicks in and I don't know if what I wrote will make sense, I'm heading to bed. Any takers?

HEY UD i know you guys are slow.
my point is. play in the MVFC every single week and you'd get run down physcially. but you arent smart enough to figure out my point.

Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
I'm sure you'd like to think that but I watch at least 4 CAA matchups/yr. and the same # of MVFC and the play is not more physical in the MVFC than the CAA. Now if you were saying that to SLC then I'd go with ya on it. I already watched Delaware play SDSU this year and Delaware was the more physical team in that contest. SDSU is normally one of the more physical teams in the MVFC over the past couple of years.lakesbison wrote:HEY UD i know you guys are slow.

Good stuff man.

Re: TSN Poll-Sept 27
Hey, I know this isn't the right thread but I had a thought (can't sleep NOW, obviously)....you can all try to schedule us now, as your FBS, and add to the winning percentages for FBS/FCS games. I think we'll be back to square 1 now and it is going to be real ugly for awhile.

Actually it's your MVFC players that are slow. Put any of your teams in the CAA and they maybe go 3-8 thanks to scheduling Quincy and St Joe's.lakesbison wrote:HEY UD i know you guys are slow.
