Under most circumstances Boston might just stick a complete lineup of minor leaguers on the field for the final games of 2010 after the team was eliminated from the playoff race, however for one more day the Sox will send its A Team to the field.
Tonight Boston lefty Jon Lester will take the mound attempting to become the first Sox lefty in 60 years to win 20 games.
Lester enters the day at 19-8 with an ERA just under 3.00, he joins David Price as being valid arguments against CC Sabathia being the CY Young winner.
Most will agree that the final top 5 of the CY Young voting will include Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, CC Sabathia, David Price and Felix Hernandez in some order, in fact all 5 could be the only guys to receive votes, though certainly home town voters for other players will likely place a lower end vote for someone like Trevor Cahill.
Plenty of people make the argument that Sabathia and his 21 wins should win the award because winning is what matters... But did you know that when comparing the stats of these five pitchers the only meaningful category he leads is wins?
There is really ZERO valid argument for Sabathia to win the Cy Young.. ZERO!

Whatever happened to you confining this shit to one thread?
We have a thread for every team in the majors except Philly, Boston, and NYY....why do you need a different thread for each fucking post?
Get a job...

And I thought Halladay getting to 20 for the Phils for the first time since Steve Carlton in 1982 was a long time.UNHWildCats wrote:Tonight Boston lefty Jon Lester will take the mound attempting to become the first Sox lefty in 60 years to win 20 games.
Although, Halladay was the first Phillies righty to do it since Robin Roberts in 1955.

If David Price got 20, he'd be the first ever in Tampa... but that's not been such a long time.89Hen wrote:And I thought Halladay getting to 20 for the Phils for the first time since Steve Carlton in 1982 was a long time.UNHWildCats wrote:Tonight Boston lefty Jon Lester will take the mound attempting to become the first Sox lefty in 60 years to win 20 games.![]()

Sorry to see Lester get rocked and not get 20 -- would have been a great story given his medical history.
At this point, the Cy Young choice is either Sabathia or Price. Period.
