i'm not buying the "we almost won at montana so we'll play well vs MSU" thing. the truth is, SAC didn't play well at all. they were the beneficiaries of 4(?) griz turnovers AND a blocked punt...AND STILL LOST. how is that considered an achievement? smells like B-A-D offense to me.
anyhoo, what i'm saying is SAC doesn't have the offensive firepower to keep MSU's offense off the field consistantly. SAC's strength(run game) plays right into MSU's strength(stopping the run). add to that, MSU's offense is extremely balanced and has yet to stopped. they're gonna get a lot of chances and i think it will be too much for SAC to handle.
might be close at half, but cats pull away...
43-19
Hilliard is no Taiwan Jones, he's a power back, he'll roll right over your D. That's how the Cat offense is going to stay off the field.
Look at Sac's run D, it's pretty good, I don't think MSU is going to be running much Saturday.
MSU has a pretty solid run D too, you might check the stats this year and last year.
It may be a little difficult to run on you but we will get it done, (EWU was considerd an pretty solid fron 7 too) and WE can throw the ball, something SAC doesnt seem to be able to do

I did some research for fun, and the last FCS running back to go over 100 yards against the Cats was Trevyn Smith, October 3rd 2009.
In case Sac doesnt remember, Smith was pretty damn good, and that was the ONLY game he ever gained 100+ on the Cats, Oh yeah, WSU lost that game too, because the Bobcat D held Smith & Bolen out of the EZ in a crucial series.
I noticed Herky keeps bringing up the injury situation for the Cats but doesn't mention that the 3 pre-season starting wideouts for SAC are going to miss the season due to injury.
I doesn’t matter who is receiving if the QB can’t throw a catchable ball. Yes Reed and Hendershott are taking medical redshirts (I didn’t hear about this until this morning) this year but we still have Deader, Norrise (a FR who has shown some potential) and a few other senior WR’s (Richardson, Larson & Willis). I could probably find a Sperbeck quote saying how he thinks these guys are good enough to be starters and how he wants to get them some playing time but I think I’ll spare everyone this time. Also since we are on injuries, Hilliard was out all of last season or there would have been two RB’s who would have had over 100 yards in a game against MSU.

not denying that hilliard is pretty good. as for him "rolling over" our defense, i wouldn't put money on it. even if he gets 100, that doesn't neccessarily equate to TDs(see last weekend). i would imagine the cats will be playing 8-9 in the box at all times, daring SAC to pass.

Don’t worry, Sperbeck will still run it every first down so MSU should just put 11 in the box…Hilliard would still get three yards though.

I noticed some Cat fans acting like Griz fans, must be something in the water up there. Lead probably.
It's because they havent played this season, Reed played last week but other than that, he hasnt played. The Hornets havent relied on them at all this season so their not playing is not a factor. The Hornets have managed to do what they have without their main starters in Reed, Hendershot, MBT, and Gordon.
The Hornets have adapted, can the Cats?

If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.

Still have to punt on 4th and 1
The receiving corps for Sac is deep and big, putting 8-9 in the box would definitely prompt Sperbeck to call some pass plays. But be careful, the Hornet receivers are more than capable of burning the Cats' secondary. Fleming just has to get them the ball.

NO. Cat fans are better fans/people than us! They let us know this all the time!
I expect Hilliard to but quite a few big runs, Sac State does a very good job using unbalanced lines (massive o-lineman) to get out on the edge so my guess is that they could bust one like WSU did at least once. I do think that McGhee will probably get sacked at least once on Saturday.
What will be key to this game is whose tempo we are playing at. Sac State is the ultra version of "Bobby Ball" or what the Griz were last year slow the game down. On the other hand the Bobcats have gone to quick tempo offense that keeps defenses on their toes if it can get in a rhythm.
If Sac State can't do a better job of passing the ball, they could be in trouble keeping up with the Bobcat offense. Turnovers will play a big key.

Cats win this one.
Sac State lost to a struggling Montana team. This tells me they probably aren't up to the challenge. As other posters pointed out, Sac State is one dimensional on offense. You shut down the run and they have nothing else. Cats are one of the best in the nation at stopping the run.
EWU fans and Sac State Fans have been trying to use the "forced turnovers" and special teams play against Montana as an indicator of how good their D and ST's are. The problem is those are two things that are consistantly a problem with all Montana games this year. This indicates that Montana mistakes may have a more significant role in those issues than the opposing teams prowess.

You are right, UM turned the ball over all by themselves with no impact from the opposing team (and yes, I am sure there have been instances where this has been the case i.e. muffed punts and punt returns).
I’m sorry but Wa-Griz is no easy place to play in, especially in front of a record setting crowd. The Hornets stepped up to the challenge last week but were not able to pull it off. To word it as if the Hornets were not even in the game tells me you either didn’t watch the game or have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. UM has been struggling but all of their D1 games have been close. This is as much of a credit to the talent and depth UM has as well as the UM opponents stepping up to the challenge and going toe-to-toe with UM.
The fact is, UM has turned the ball over 14 times in their last 3 games. You have to give credit to the defenses and teams they've played, sure, but that is a pattern. There is a deeper problem at work here than just outstanding play by all 3 of UM's FCS opponents.
Well, here is to a good, injury free entertaining game. I hope I will get to see it, I've got a few friends flying in tonight so I have no idea where I'll be. If any MSU fans are making the trip to Sac, safe travels and I hope you enjoy the trip.

Of course, score has a hand to play in this, but from the -40 to the + G, I'm going to at least consider going for it. If I'm in FG range, that's also an option if a FG helps. Inside the +5, I'm going for it regardless.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

If your offense is "3 yards and a cloud of dust" you wont be seeing the inside of the 40 much, and yes, I know you have a pretty darn good kicker.
Sac takes opening drive right down the field, easy TD with nice passing. Perfectly executed pooch/onside kick, then take it right down and score another TD before the MSU offense has even had the ball.
