Black Farmer Reparations
Sad Hill News ^ | 09.15.2010 | Sad Hill
In 1997’s Pigford vs. Glickman case, approximately 400 African American farmers sued the US Department of Agriculture claiming racial discrimination from 1983-1997. When the case was settled an estimated 2,000-3,000 claims were expected to be filed with awards reaching $50,000 each.
Today, nearly 92,000 black ‘farmers’ are claiming ‘Pigford’ reparations — 5 times the number of blacks who were operating farms at the time.
The 2007 Agricultural Census shows a total of 39,697 ‘Black or African-American’ farm operators — keep in mind that’s 10 years after the last ‘Pigford’ year. Interesting that the National Black Farmers Association puts their 2007 figures at only 18,000. In short, a minimum of 500% of all 'Pigford' black farmers were discriminated against.
To date almost $1 billion has been paid or credited to the black farmers under the settlement's consent decree. And that’s not enough. As of February 2010, President Obama and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack promised an additional $1.15 billion to cover remaining claims.

No condemnation of those extra black "farmers" who are obviously trying to steal money that is not theirs?? And no sympathy for the Irish - yup the Irish were discriminated against...but that is OK for klean. It is not about how people are treated, klean only cares about how blacks are treated. Jesus would approve.mrklean wrote:CRY ME A RIVER!!!Cluck U wrote:

Hispanic farmers in the Southwest of have been abused for decades. Time to pay up!

Re: Black Farmer Reparations
Those of us that are of German decent should get reparations for the way our ancestors were treated when there was an influx of German immigrants in the 1800's, and the way they were treated during WW2 in America.

Also, the Mormons deserve reparations for mistreatment and being uprooted from their homes in Illinois and sent to exile in Utah by angry Protestant mobs!

Classic response from someone with nothing to say. You are the typical clown who gets caught in his own trap and then gets upset that he gets called out on it.
I'm trying to help. If you are going to continue to pretend to be impartial, then you need to do a better job of faking it.
Repeat after me:
"I, klean, treat people of all races equally. When I see a thread that potentially exposes black people as theives, I will refrain from jumping in and attacking the old guard. Instead, I will first insert a throw away line such as: "Damn, it sure seems as though some of those 92 bazillion black folks are lying sacks of shit trying to scam the government out of money. That means they are effectively stealing from ME, because, I, as a black man, pay taxes, and even if I am a racist, I don't want any black man stealin' my stuff. I wish they would not do that...that is bad. Black people can do bad things. However, while I am at it, those stats might not be correct because the white, motherfvckin' Repukes are also lying sacks of shit."
See? That wasn't so hard. Keeps you balanced instead of coming across as a racist and a bigot. It is what, as you often invoke, Jesus would do (maybe without the faking part).
You should work on that Jesus thing, too. You might be able to fool a few of the posters and hide your hypocrisy, but you won't be able to fool JC.
Let me know if you need any more help. I won't bill you...this is charity work.

If you're responding to my post, I really could give a shit. Until American farms have difficulty feeding everyone in our own country, what's left over is simply the cream. If they're still uncompetitive so be it. Helping out poor farmers is another story altogether and it should transcend race. I'm just wondering whether Cluck is a racist or not.Bronco wrote:Really...you don't know the difference between a farmer and non farmer.

Re: Black Farmer Reparations
Here's one story about fake fishermen going after BP funds set up for real fishermen.
---
In Gulf of Mexico, 'fake fishermen' angle for BP pay
By Robyn Bresnahan BBC News, Louisiana
In order to claim compensation from BP, fishermen must prove they hold a commercial fishing license. The only place to get one in Louisiana is the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) in Baton Rouge.
Since the oil spill, roughly 2,200 more commercial licences have been sold than in the same period last year, despite many fishing grounds being closed.

That's what's so funny. Where is the difference between the black "farmer" bilking the system and the Wall Street bank doing the same? If you're not taking full advantag of government largesse you're truly missing out.

Of course you didn't read what I wrote. You are a bigot who, when it comes down to it, only sympathizes with the black point of view. Anything else is secondary with you. That is exactly why you are a racist and a bigot. Your occassional denial of those facts is pathetic and comical.mrklean wrote:

And yes, I know what the black farmer went through. I'm funny that way. I also know what discrimination the Irish farmers went through...specifically my greatgrandfather and grandfather. It is YOU who don't know what they went through. You don't know the discrimination my wife's family suffered, indentured servents...jewish...and it is YOU who doesn't care...because YOU are a bigot.
klean, your willful ignorance of other forms of discrimination is appalling...and it is in direct relationship to your denial of being a bigot.

Thief is not a strong word when 92,000 people, more than those who existed in this case, claim to be black farmers who deserve reparations. Some of that number are indeed thieves.kalm wrote:

You know what is funny? There are probably a bunch of white thieves filling out that paperwork stating that they were black farmers in hopes that the government doesn't do its due diligence. Just write the check and show me the money. Thus the line, “I’m a black farmer, and so’s my wife.” You must not be a Monty Python fan.
But, instead of a reasonable response to the post, which didn’t bring up the issue of whether reparations should be paid but instead brought up the unusually large number of people claiming reparations, klean just fires off his usual knee jerk response in defense of anything involving his version of justice. Wheeee....
