You're not kidding. His fastball was sitting around 92 MPH and flat as a pancake and he had no command of his breaking stuff. Hopefully it was an aberration, because if that's what we're getting from Ubaldo this year, the Rockies are seriously screwed.dbackjon wrote:Not a good start to 2011 for Jimenez

dear lord, I hope this isn't a preview of things to come...free7694 wrote:You're not kidding. His fastball was sitting around 92 MPH and flat as a pancake and he had no command of his breaking stuff. Right , dback?
You could've left out the word 'young' and still been correct.Grizalltheway wrote:King Felix starts the season with 5 hits and 2 runs in 9 innings. Best young pitcher in the game.

Eh, I'll still give the nod to guys like Halladay, Lincicum and Lee, but Felix is on his way.free7694 wrote:You could've left out the word 'young' and still been correct.Grizalltheway wrote:King Felix starts the season with 5 hits and 2 runs in 9 innings. Best young pitcher in the game.

I'd go with Halladay and Lincecum too. Lincecum is in his 5th year, has 2 Cy Youngs, 2 years with a WAR higher than Felix's best, and most importantly a Ring.Grizalltheway wrote:Eh, I'll still give the nod to guys like Halladay, Lincicum and Lee, but Felix is on his way.free7694 wrote:

Well...I don't think you can really pin the M's abysmal performance on him...Gil Dobie wrote:I'd go with Halladay and Lincecum too. Lincecum is in his 5th year, has 2 Cy Youngs, 2 years with a WAR higher than Felix's best, and most importantly a Ring.Grizalltheway wrote:

Actually according to Gil and JJ, you can.Grizalltheway wrote:Well...I don't think you can really pin the M's abysmal performance on him...Gil Dobie wrote:

Tell that to Steve Carlton circa 1972 and a Phillies team that scored less runs than the 2010 Mariners.Grizalltheway wrote:Well...I don't think you can really pin the M's abysmal performance on him...Gil Dobie wrote:

It's a hitter's era, Gil.Gil Dobie wrote:Tell that to Steve Carlton circa 1972 and a Phillies team that scored less runs than the 2010 Mariners.Grizalltheway wrote:

Yep, the Mariners had 34 more hits than the Phillies.Grizalltheway wrote:It's a hitter's era, Gil.Gil Dobie wrote:

It's hard to say if they would have won with Felix. You put in a different player, and it changes the chemistry of a team. The extreme high for the stat geeks would have the stat formula's determine the awards at the end of the season, and pass out trophies for the championship team like the BCS without having a playoff system. And if you have the best statistical team, you won't have to have the most wins to win the mythical statistical championship.Grizalltheway wrote:So, do you think the Giants wouldn't have won the series had they had Felix instead of Lincicum?
