Theres no shame in what Boston did this year. Had the injuries not piled up like they had they very well could have won the East.

I'm pretty sure the Yankees denied themselves home field advantage, but OK, if that makes you feel better - have at it.

Oh and BTW, have an awesome 6 month offseason.....

One day after Lowell missed a homerun by inches in his final career at bat, Jason Varitek sent one to the wall in what was likely his final at bat as a member of the Red Sox.

The Sox injury woes were no worse than what the Phillies endured...

The Phils ended up with the best record in baseball.

Oh, and btw.

The Rays won today. The Rays WON the AL East Crown. They didn't back into it and need the Sawks help. Sorry, world doesn't revolve around the Sawks. Rays won, they're the Champs, home-field up until the WS.

Will they be hanging a banner in Fenway for this achievement?

are you fucking serious?

Catcher: Boston was without both of its catchers for a month as Martinez and Varitek went on the DL within 48 hours of each other. Boston got zero RBI from its group of catchers in the absence of Martinez and Varitek. Philly has gotten 162 games out of its top 2 catchers for the season.

First: Youkilis has missed the final two months of the season. Howard missed a couple weeks in early August with an injury.

Second: Pedroia has missed half the season with a broken foot. Chase Utley missed around 6 weeks from July to mid August.

Short: One of two positions where the Sox didnt really lose any games to injury. Scutaro played the last 5 weeks with a bad shoulder that saw him get action at 2B when Lowrie returned. Sox shut Scutaro down once officially eliminated from post season. Rollins missed half the season for Philly and is the only position where Philly even came close to Boston in lost games.

Third: While Beltre didnt suffer injury he sure did cause it. His hard play going after shallow pops in left led to the season ending injuries to Ellsbury and Cameron.

Left: Cameron missed more than half the season appearing in only 48 games. Ibanez has been healthy all season appearing in 154.

Center: Ellsbury appeared in only 18 games in 2010 while Victorino appeared in 142.

Right: Boston had Drew for 138 games. Philly had Werth for 155.

Starters: Not much here. Boston lost Beckett for some time but had veteran Wakefield to fill in. Philly lost Moyer but acquired Oswalt.

Relief: I wont look into this because Boston may have done better had some of the bullpen guys actually got hurt more LOL

In the end no one can look at this and suggest Philly suffered anywhere close to what Boston did. The biggest loss was Rollins for half the season. Boston had three opening day starters who each missed more games than he did. Philly had 6 of 8 positions where no significant loss of games occurred while Boston lost significant games at 5 positions.

Probably more.

I had great cafe seats (essentially SRO behind home plate with a bar stool and counter top) for home game 3 if the yanks had won HFA, and I paid $90 face value for them. Those will go for some serious $$$ for game 3. Unfortunately Albany's homecoming is saturday at 1pm so I'll be upstate watching in a bar.

Fact - the Phillies endured a severe injury plagued season as did the Sox. The Phillies still managed to come out on top, while the Sox are making tee times. Screw you and your annoying threads and screw the third place Sox.

Phillies are in the softer NL and can win with injuries and Charlie Manual as coach. ;)

If you had a job you'd know. :ugeek:

Then again, I don't have a *ton* of room to talk. By December I may have lost all three jobs I currently have.

I want to thank the Red Sox for making sure the Yankees avoided Cliff Lee two times in a five-game series. I'd much rather see Lee in a 7-game series.
