He's a homer. I heard his alternate screen name was hens05alum.

??? I just watched the video. After the initial hit, the defender's staring at Devlin's back the whole time.clenz wrote:Devlin's hands are infront of his **** face.mcveyrl wrote:

BTW I played DE, and I hate the protection the QB's get. I was called for "roughing" more than once on calls that were bullshit.
BTW I screen shotted the play right at the point where Devlin's hands come out of the RB stomach. The defender has YET TO MAKE CONTACT at that point. That is at the 7 second mark. The initial hit is fine. The whipping motion of driving Devlin to the ground is the issue.
Oh, BTW the defenders head doesn't get to "waist level" until he is on his way to the ground...otherwise he is shoulder level.

Agreed, hitting the QB is part of the game.. but that whipping of Devlin into the turf was totally unnecessary and appeared to be an attempt to injure.clenz wrote: The initial hit is fine. The whipping motion of driving Devlin to the ground is the issue.

WTF are you watching? Freeze the video at the 6 second mark. AP has the ball. Devlin is facing (FACING, not turned away) Bryant and Bryant is still 8 feet away from Devlin with a clear view of Devlin and his hands...Bryant should be able to see Devlin doesn't have the ball. Devlin doesn't fake a run, he braces himself for a hit. At 7 seconds, Bryant hits Devlin around the shoulders, not the waist, and Bryany has BOTH of Devlin's forearms...and NO ball. At the 8 second mark, AP is already 5 yards away, Bryant readjusts his grip and takes a couple steps to readjust his legs (he knows what he is going to do next)...both of Devlin's hands are still in front of him with no ball, Bryant is pivoting and Devlin is standing straight up. At the 9 second mark, Bryant begins his pile drive and by pulling Devlin across Bryant's legs and proceeeds to drive his head and shoulders into the ground.mcveyrl wrote:...Devlin also fakes the run. Bryant thought he was tackling him. AP is shielding the ball from Bryant. He did his job and tackled the QB. If Devlin doesn't get hurt, nobody complains. Sasek got hit plenty of times on that play.
That was intentional.
Devlin looks to be OK for the following weeks, but let's not pretend that Bryant didn't know what he was doing.
And, as you've mentioned elsewhere...UD stoned JMU in the second half. 69 yards. In the meantime, that pvssie Bryant let a freshman QB drive his team down the field a couple times...including the game winning drive.

Yea, I'm done talking about it. UD wins 1-0 with clenz the expert witness DE as the final decider.
Regardless, UD deserved to win and I'm not trying to take anything away from that. Here's hoping we meet up in the playoffs. THAT will be a slobber knocker.

1) This was UD's Superbowl
2) Clenz is the expert on all things oil-spill related, thus,
3) He is a bona fide expert when it comes to playing football against Delaware

Yep. There will have to be some major faltering by UD at this point for that not to happen. I think UD would have to lose two and JMU win out...slim chance of both IMO.
But I will do my damndest to get to that game...
Re: #5 Delaware @ #3 JMU Game Thread
And didn't we already determine that since JMU can't host a home game in the 'Burg, they would host their home game in Newark?mcveyrl wrote:89Hen wrote: In Newark.

On a serious note, if you host a game, is it going to be with Jerry's kids over at the LBC?bandl wrote:And didn't we already determine that since JMU can't host a home game in the 'Burg, they would host their home game in Newark?mcveyrl wrote:

The last word is that they were trying to work something out with the City of Richmond to use Shitty, I mean City, Stadium. Better than nothing I guess.

Yea, it's close to a bunch of alums, so that's good. I would think that would be a knock against us in any bid and it would take away from whatever we wanted to bid. But it is what it is, I guess.

IT DOES NOT MAKE ONE &*%$ING BIT OF DIFFERENCE WHAT JMU THOUGHT WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!
The moment Devlin was picked up, spun and the pile driven into the turf it was not longer a good clean hard hit. It was an act to injure and mame. If Bryant can't man up to the facts and do a mea culpa some coach down the line will put a bullseye on his knees and take him out first. 15yds for a chop block is a small price to pay to protect a QB from a know headhunter protected my home field calls.

The bolded part above speaks volumes, that & the fact that the idiot Bryant went public in print before the game saying it was his intent to knock Devlin outta the game, making it a much easier case for a prosector.jd of de wrote:IT DOES NOT MAKE ONE &*%$ING BIT OF DIFFERENCE WHAT JMU THOUGHT WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless, thrilled UD won, glad we don't play JMU again, tons of talent on that team but no coaching, no discipline, they remind me of the old Miami Hurricane teams of the 80's, a bunch of renegades.

If that part is true there needs to be something done by the CAA. However, I have yet to read a quote saying they were going to take him out. Can someone link that to me.bluehenbillk wrote:jd of de wrote:IT DOES NOT MAKE ONE &*%$ING BIT OF DIFFERENCE WHAT JMU THOUGHT WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!
