pus oops i mean psu and nau will never beat montana in the same year.
EWU did that a couple years back.... yep WE did. bc i was on the squad.
psu or nau will never (within 10 years) win the big sky
I'm shocked. Two things I woulda never expected from you BF. Using the word "never", and boasting about yourself.
Never say never. Ask Richmond...their "never" just vanished after 160 years. As recently as 2003, Idaho State was spanking Montana and Cal Poly, 2004 Portland beat Montana, NAU's come within a field goal a couple of times...so your "never" doesn't even hold water statistically. Yes, Montana's been a great program, but most teams evolve, as have PSU, NAU and Weber. To remain consistent, the Griz will have to begin looking more and more outside of MT during recruiting...which is a practice they will rigidly oppose. At the current rate, (IMHO) the state population is not growing fast enough to increase their talent pool at a rate that will allow them to remain competitive CONSISTENTLY (emphasis added...Grizzies...don't come on here belching defensive remarks about competitiveness...the Griz were Natl Champion game competitive this year...my remarks are strictly focused on maintaining a competitive program year after year. And before any Homer's start fawning over themselves...be honest...everyone saw the errors made in the C-game...errors that hadn't appeared all season, showed up last night. It's heart-breaking, but can be used to learn and improve.) Point is, programs change...just look at what Weber's accomplished this past season...and then tell me "never".
T-Man....T-Man....the issue isn't whether or not Montana will lose a conference game or two. The issue is whether NAU AND PSU will ever beat Montana in the same season. And funny thing about recruiting mostly in-state---Montana's been doing that for 20+ years, and it seems to be working fairly well, doncha think?
The best football players in Montana want to play for the Griz. The best football players in Utah want to play for BYU. Then Utah. Then Utah State. THEN Weber. The best football players in Arizona want to play for ASU. Then U of A. THEN NAU. In Oregon it's Oregon, then Oregon State, THEN PSU. THAT is and always will be the Griz advantage. Sure, from purely a numbers standpoint the Griz talent pool may not be as deep, but being the biggest show around it doesn't HAVE to be. And I'm not sure where this
As recently as 2003, Idaho State was spanking Montana
comes from. The ISU Bungles have exactly TWO victories over the Griz since their modest 3-game streak ended in 1984!!! That's 24 years, with only two victories! And NAU, they're 1-19 in their last 20 against the Griz. The Griz have exactly SEVEN conference losses this DECADE, and four of those are to MSU and EWU. So, the odds of BOTH of NAU and ISU beating the Griz in the SAME year has to be about the same as winning the Powerball. In other words, I won't say "never", but I like my chances of not having to stand on a table in Gordon Biersch and drop trou!
