IIRC, they had a group of about 5 seniors last season that they somehow pulled out of Arizona that were pretty damn important to the team.

This season they started with arguably the toughest opening 6 games (they still aren't out of it) in all of the FCS. Look at their schedule. Western Illinois was supposed to be their "easy" game, but WIU is currently 4-1 and a top 20 team. I thought they would have gotten at least one or two wins out of it, but they haven't gotten any QB play and their defense is lacking in some very important categories.

No rocket science involved. They've played the BCS #6 (Nebraska), the FCS #2 (Delaware), and perennially tough Northern Iowa all on the road so far. Their only home game was a loss to Ill St (a 3-2 team) after traveling back halfway across the country from Newark and having Nebraska looming the following week.

How would most FCS teams fare in that situation?

They've simply had the toughest schedule in FCS to date this season. Their AD did them no favors with the scheduling this year. Add all of that to the loss of key seniors and their season is already over.

I love how everyone for the past 3-4 years see's SDSU OOC schedule and just loves it. As an SDSU fan, the next time I see our Assoc. AD Rob Peterson, I'm going to shove my shoe so far up his a$$, he'll taste it forever. A bye week the first week of the season, two year running?? DUMB. DUMB. DUMB. And next year it's looking like our bye-week might be the last week of the regular season.

I feel sorry for seniors, Minett and Domino, not that they need me feeling sorry for them. Just hope to get a few wins and try and get back to around .500. A win up in Fargo would go a long way to making the winter just a bit warmer up here in SD!!

Very valid point, which I forgot about, mentioning the opening week bye. That is very dumb. Delaware had a week to shake the rust off and feel live action, even if it was against West Chester. SDSU was a week behind.

He's actually had a pretty productive year, if you throw out the Delaware game.

Delaware
32 yards rushing, 2.3 yards per carry and 7 yards receiving.

ISU-Red
120 yards, 6.7 yards per carry and 32 yard receiving

Nebraska
112 yards, 4.0 yards per carry and 14 yards receiving. (Can't tell you how many NU fans came up to me and talked about how impressed with Minett they were.) The way he played, 112 yards seemed really low...I guess that's why we only scored 3 points...that and the good old Big 12 Stripes, keeping the "status quo" in order, if you know what I mean.

UNI
137 yards rushing, 7.6 per carry and 34 receiving. (UNI fans can help me out here, but I think that was the most rushing yards they've given up to anyone this year??) The coaches need to bear the brunt of this one by not giving it to him more IMO.

So not a bad year, just overshadowed, by a tough schedule and really, really bad QB play, IMO.

I can only think of a handful of times UNI has given up a 100 yard rusher the last 5 years or so, and Minett has one of them.

SDSU lost because they didn't use Minett enough.

No way our Sophmore QB was the reason for the top 10 ranking, he really didn't play that well last year IMO, but as a RS Freshman, he played probably as well as expected. This year he just hasn't played well...period...he continually proves to his detractors that he can't take a hit, considering every INT he throws is off his back foot and he is getting very good protection, IMO. Who knows what the reason for this year's top-10 ranking, other than probably being top 10 last year...but that was last year and it's looking more and more like SDSU lost some very key seniors and will this year with Minett and Domino being seniors. I was afraid of this all off-season.

I'm also afraid this program might have lost a-lot of momentum from that 2nd half Montana debacle. I just hope I'm wrong and they can get things back on the tracks or become a massive-over-hyped, under-achiever like NDSU.(that was for you and you only Lakes)
