Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Playoff Guesses - Week 6
No one does this here that I can remember, but I figured I'd give it a shot, stir some discussion...
So, here we go.
AQ's:
Montana St. (Big Sky)
Liberty (Big South)
Delaware (CAA)
SC State (MEAC)
SIU (MVFC)
Robert Morris (NEC)
Jax St. (OVC)
Colgate (Patriot)
Appalachian St. (Southern)
SFA (Southland)
AT LARGE:
EWU, Griz (Big Sky)
JMU, UMass, Nova (CAA)
UNI, WIU (MVFC)
SEMO St. (OVC)
Wofford (SoCon)
Cal Poly (Great West)
This is a "by the end of the season" prediction, not a "if the season ended now" prediction.
Seeds:
1. UD
2. ASU
3. SFA
4. MSU
5. UMass
I dont want to pick matchups, since I don't know who will outbid who. I think picking seeds is good enough.

If nothing else.. PLEASE call Northern Iowa UNI, not NIU. NIU= Northern Illinois. UNI= Northern Iowa.
Thank You.

Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
I can't speak for the other seeded teams once we get there, but if ASU has home field throughout the playoffs I think we'll be hard to beat. App has won 51 of the last 54 home games at the Rock.
Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Yeah, the loss of AE and struggles with Chatty the first week had me, and I'm sure others, thinking the ASU ship was taking on some water. But it's becoming clear that ASU is still ASU. And even if ASU isn't as good, the Rock is a great homefield advantage. If ASU gets a seed, they'll make a run.AppStateAlumQC wrote:I can't speak for the other seeded teams once we get there, but if ASU has home field throughout the playoffs I think we'll be hard to beat. Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Have any thoughts on the regional first round matchups in the East?
Could we see something like this?
Colgate at Liberty
RMU at SCSU
or will the PL/NEC champs likely have to face a CAA at-large teams like JMU and 'Nova?

Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
I dunno if money or travel will win out. It will be tough for LU and SCSU to both host, but they'll probably be the highest bidders. RMU won't host, and I don't know if Colgate would, but RMU/Colgate would be a much better matchup for travel.aceinthehole wrote:Have any thoughts on the regional first round matchups in the East?

Maybe JMU at SCSU? WoCo at Liberty? Nova hosts RMU or Colgate and the other goes out west. Just thoughts.

Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Why is SIU an automatic qualifier?
Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Because after beating UNI, I see them as the favorite at this point (I had thought UNI was the favorite). It's really a crapshoot, but I feel that if they're getting their act together as the season goes on, they're the favorite. Every week it could change, tho.ISUSycamores23 wrote:Why is SIU an automatic qualifier?

Oh, and add about 4 more CAA teams.

The MVFC is a total mess right now!ToTheLeft wrote:Because after beating UNI, I see them as the favorite at this point (I had thought UNI was the favorite). Nova was my last team in. Imagine if I had as many CAA as MVFC/Big Fluffy teams.DBlue wrote:Please edit again, edit them out.ToTheLeft wrote:

JSU without a seed? If we win out there is no way we will not be a seed being 11-0 win a win over an SEC team.ToTheLeft wrote: Seeds:

Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
That's true. Something I'll keep in mind, it's not like JSU could slip up in conference, still be the AQ, and have SEMO St. get in as an at-large. JSU would have to run the table and that should be enough for a seed.JSU02 wrote:JSU without a seed? Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Plus the three tied are SIU/UNI/WIU. SIU just beat UNI at home and has WIU at home. That would make them technical favorites in the situation.ToTheLeft wrote:Because after beating UNI, I see them as the favorite at this point (I had thought UNI was the favorite). Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
Nova in before the Tribe who beat them soundly (game was not as close as final score showed - 2 garbage time TDs by Nova in the last 7 minutes ) and whose only loss is by 4 at UMass?ToTheLeft wrote:No one does this here that I can remember, but I figured I'd give it a shot, stir some discussion...

Re: Playoff Guesses - Week 6
I'm not sold on either WM or Nova, but at this point I would put William and Mary in over them. Both have a similar remaining schedule, but we'll see. As weeks go by this will change.
Partially my mistake, but to be honest, Nova was the last team I added. Not sold on anyone as the 3rd CAA at-large at this point.

I'm not happy with you right now, TTL....
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
