Week 7 GOTW (Vote!!!)
Week 6 is barely in the books but discussion on! Had to really reach for some of these but there are lot of good teams playing bad teams next week.
Montana State (5-1) @ Northern Arizona (3-2):
NAU lost @ Eastern Washington this week, 14-21, though the game didn't seem all that close. Montana State is in the top 10, but do they belong? They gave up a ton of points to Sacramento State before finishing them, and their offense put up another 44 this week against Portland State.
Richmond (2-3) @ UMass (4-1)
Richmond apparently is having some QB issues, but the CAA is the CAA. Will they show something against UMass or will the Minutemen roll through the Spiders after their week off?
New Hampshire (3-3) @ James Madison (4-1)
New Hampshire reminds me of the Pittsburgh Steelers of last year. So far they've lost to two poor teams but beat (at least what has been thought to be) a good team. James Madison has no offense, but they've got a hell of a defense. Pillow fight game, but the CAA conference is still pretty open after 1st.
Bethune-Cookman (5-0) @ South Carolina St. (4-1)
Bethune-Cookman comes in completely untested (their 4 FCS opponents are 4-17 combined) but they have destroyed their competition thusfar, outscoring opponents 249-80. South Carolina State hasn't been tested much lately, with FCS opponents also having a grand total of 4 wins and 12 losses, but the Bulldogs are looking for a clean MEAC sweep to push into the playoffs to perhaps finally get a home game.
Albany (3-2) @ Robert Morris (5-1)
Albany lost their lone game to a ranked opponent this year (SF Austin 59-14) and dropped another to Duquesne and their win over Maine looks decent at best, but a win against Robert Morris and another against Central Connecticut would put them as clear front-runners for the NEC auto-bid. Robert Morris dropped their first game of the season to Dayton (now 5-1) and beat a top 25 contender in Liberty in Pittsburgh. A win against Albany would put the Colonials in a great spot to win the NEC, having Central Connecticut at home November 6th.

Bethune-Cookman @ South Carolina St., not really interested in this game, but it looks like the best of a mediocre list.

I'm probably looking forward to Georgia Southern @ Chattanooga. Should provide some answers in the Socon. I agree though, this coming week is empty when looking for blockbuster games.

Re: Week 7 GOTW
IMO, this list is cr@p, but this might just be a weekend of nothing.
NAU is decent, but won't be able to compete with MSU. Just too many guns.
Richmond doesn't seem to have any presence this year. UMASS's MoV will be comparable to MSU's, if not bigger.
UNH is inexplicably having an off year. JMU will likely beat them handily.
The other two games feature second-tier unbeatens or near-unbeatens. They should have no effect on the playoff race other than determining who gets their league's auto-bid.
My vote therefore goes to BYE @ Sacred City.

IMO you should learn to recognize that I already mentioned that, and it really is a weekend of nothing. Thanks for repeating what folks with a pulse already knew.SuperHornet wrote:IMO, this list is cr@p, but this might just be a weekend of nothing.

Re: Week 7 GOTW
If Montana State's defense continues to struggle the way it has the past two weeks then NAU could very well exploit it...they certainly will do a better job containing MSU's offense than Sac State or Portland State could. In a weak week that's my vote.

Bump. There's a three way tie for the top game this week. Want more voters quickly.

Re: Week 7 GOTW (Vote!!!)
not to be a homer and sound biased but I think ODU-Cal Poly should be a nominee...CP fans would agree with me. There were big plays on defense, offense, special teams, high scoring. For a game on the same weekend as ODU's fall break which meant a lot of students going home for the weekend it was a great environment...as always.

Missed the poll but count me as a vote for B-C vs SCSU. Respect the MEAC.

Re: Week 7 GOTW (Vote!!!)
I didn't get a chance to log in this weekend, but I would have voted for JMU/UNH.
EDIT: I didn't realize the implications the MEAC game had...if I had a vote, I'd change it to this game.

Re: Week 7 GOTW (Vote!!!)
Poll should have stayed open until at least Monday. But I don't see a game here worth voting for. But if I had to I'd just go with the SC State game.

Re: Week 7 GOTW (Vote!!!)
Wow. Never thought I'd be voting for the MEAC in Week 7. BC-SC State is the clear choice here.

This would have been my pick as well, but I settled for MSU-NAU.Keenan wrote:I'm probably looking forward to Georgia Southern @ Chattanooga. Should provide some answers in the Socon. I agree though, this coming week is empty when looking for blockbuster games.
