1. Bridgeforth Stadium - JMU (after it's done)
2. Wash-Griz - Montana
3. Kidd Brewer - Appalachian State
4. Delaware Stadium
5. Stambaugh Stadium - Youngstown State

Montana State has a good chance of cracking the top 5, if they complete their expansion.

Physical structure you are correct. The two things Delaware Stadium has is size and steepness of sides. It's the fact that it's usually full that makes it one of the best places.

Agree about UD - not a bad seat in either major grandstand. Best sight lines for any stadium I've been in, and right on top of the action. Couple that with 20k per game and a winning program, and it's tough to beat that.

Most old stadiums are like that -you walk into the stadium and have to go down into it. It's the way they made them back then, and probably to make the support easier. Plus, it was not as intrusive on the overall landscape of where they built it.

When The Tub is rocking, it's certainly a Top 5 venue. Plus it has tradition and history on its side, with all the national championships and whatnot.




You are correct about the pressbox. It was state of the art when it was built in 1964 (I think). Hopefully the shovels hit the ground sometime soon on the proposed expansion. That should solve the pressbox issue.

Of the stadiums I've been to:

Delaware, McNeese, GSU are the best- App didn't have restrooms on the visitors side when I was there and has a track so that's an automatic DQ... it may be better now.

Fl Intl was the worst... in fact the only redeeming factor was FIU's dancers, I swear they got them from Pure Platinum.

I'm pretty excited that our first (official) CAA game will be at the Tub. I think it's funny that the Association is welcoming the new kids on the block by sending them to the place with the most history...and who knows, possibly the #1 team and National Champions. Will not miss it for the world!

I would bet that is exactly why Michigan Stadium was built the way it was. When it opened in the 20's it help 70+ thousand people. Imagine that at a football game in the 1920's. A lot of football stadiums aren't that big now. The added support that building it into the ground gave was a big bonus. Add to the face that Ann Arbor itself isn't a large city, there wasn't a ton of space in the city to build it, so doing it that way to take up as little ground as possible was a bonus. The population of Ann Arbor is 114,386. Think about that for a second. Michigan has held crowds of 113,090 and 113,065 so far this year in the stadium. That stadium is about 1000 short of holding the entire city. Hell, most Saturday's Michigan Stadium becomes one of the 200 largest cities in America.

With the new press boxes more of it is visible from the outside, but in terms of actual seating only the top 10 rows of the stadium (95 rows total) were visible from the outside of the stadium

I personally think that is one of the coolest stadiums in the country. It's essentially just an endless sea of people all the way around, with no break at all. Alot better than the way Beaver Stadium at Penn State is, for example, which was piece by piece.

Do you drink beer? If so, then you'll appreciate our stadium. The Wall gets you in and out faster than any other stadium's bathrooms. You don't have to miss any of the game.

Of course, to blueball's point, Appy has their standing-room-only hill. I suppose their fans can just water the lawn.

Kidd Brewer Stadium. I went to the Rock on Saturday for the Elon-App game and I knew it would be great, but the overall experience blew me away. The fans were into it for the whole game, and they showed up early, not on time or late, like I'm used to at Elon. 45 Minutes before kickoff, the whole student section was filled and the band was playing. Montana is on the bucket list, but because I haven't been there, I have to give it to KBS.

Someone mentioned parking at the Big House in Ann Arbor - a lot of it & one of the easiest ins & outs you'll find, way way better than Happy Valley (Penn State). The cool part of it at Michigan is a lot of the general public parking is on the University golf course. Playing bocce ball on a golf green while pounding down beers - now that's tailgating!!

Memorial Stadium of Indiana State is a great stadium. It doesn't look that nice from the outside, but once you walk in, it's amazing. Although there is one problem, it only has 1 side of bleachers.

You're not alone. The stadium at Long Beach College is like that. I think LBSU also used it back in the day. The California Quake shares it with LBC. (The Quake's kicker set the IWFL record with a 44-yard FG; there is YouTube footage of that somewhere.)

The idea of bleachers on one side whomps. You risk fans of both teams getting burned badly (as happened the one Sac @ Cal game I attended while living in SoCal. If you have an arch rival in town, you're just asking for brawls in the stands. Not a good thing at all.

There are 3 big sky football teams that do not have a bigger football stadium than weber's basketball arena. It's probably the biggest bball arena for an FCS football school in the nation...at least one that is dedicated only to college basketball.
