Well then there sure are a hell of a lot of FCS/I-AA 'blind hogs' still looking for their first acorn...Appaholic wrote: Twice in the last 31 years? We call that a blind hog finding an acorn....

And 1979 was D-2. And the others were voted in. No playoffs. Delaware has one Division 1-AA/FCS Championship. One.

Only the last 31 years count? Got six dude in four different decades to your 3 and played in the NC game 10 times in 5 of the last 7 decades. Call me when you win one without the 2005 recruiting class.Appaholic wrote:jd of de wrote:

Ya'll are so easy!
Okay lets clarify here. We are on a message board dedicated to Championship Subdivision/1-AA Football. "Where championships are earned, not given."
When you start comparing programs on a discussion board like this, you need to have a logical starting point for comparison. In this instance the logical starting point, in my opinion, can only be 1978, when the 1-AA playoff system was inaugurated.
In that time you have one 1-AA/Championship Subdivision championship. One. To claim six puts you on the level of what Georgia Southern has accomplished, and that's pure bullshit. In 1979 you won the D-2 playoffs and Eastern Kentucky was the 1-AA champion. Look it up.
Prior to 1979 you won regional bowl games and were then voted in as Small College Champion. Great accomplishments no doubt, but I'm sure the other regional bowl winners would have made a case for themselves at the time. Eastern press bias don't you know.
Ya'll have a great tradition, and may add to it this year. But the claim of six National Championships in the context of this discussion board is bogus. Using that logic North Dakota State could legitimately claim 5 National Championships and Elon could claim 2.
Have a good day and call me when you get that second National Championship.

If we use your twisted logic Green Bay can not call itself Titletown since it has only 3 Championships in the Super Bowl era. You sir are too easy; at least that was what your sister and momma said.AshevilleApp wrote:jd of de wrote:

Delaware and most everyone else had been competing in collegiate football for many years prior to the advent of a playoff system. ASU was competing for 50 yrs prior to the advent of a playoff system and during that 50 yr period ASU won a total of, let me count them all up, let's see now, that comes to a grand total of ZERO national titles. However during that same period UD won FIVE national titles http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/di ... nships.php. ASU had the same opportunity as did UD to win those 'voted' titles, but ASU was NEVER good enough and that is a FACT that can not be disputed. UD didn't make the rules, they did play by them and won five titles while doing so.
ps - I have no idea what all this BS has to do with the fact that ASU has a lousy defense.![]()
