If Texas can win 1 of the first 2 games at home, they have Lee pitching the first game in Yankees Stadium. Lee has a better chance than the other starters to win in the Bronx.

Girardi has decided to flip-flop Hughes and Pettitte in the Yankee rotatation.

Hughes will pitch game #2 in Texas -- in a stadium where he has historically pitched extremely well. He will match up against Colby Lewis.

Pettitte instead will match up against Cliff Lee in Game #3 at Yankee Stadium.

I like the idea of letting Pettitte, a huge post-season pitcher, take the shot at Lee and giving Hughes the ball against a pitcher he should beat in game two.

It seems to me that the Yankees have dramatically increased their chances in Game 3 without losing much on their Game #2 pitching advantage.

Texas will either be heroes, or chumps having Lee pitch game 3. They could be down 2-0 heading into 3 games in New York.

I sure hope Pettitte remembered to cycle up this month.

Might have. He's not pitching against Baltimore anymore. :coffee:

Rangers of to a fast start, 3-0 in the bottom of the first thanks to a 3 run HR by Josh Hamilton.

Rangers up 5-0 and they have a bullpen light years better than Minnechoka.

A great Yankee Classic in the making. This comeback is going to be a back-breaker for the Rangers. :)

If it happens you are right, but if it doesn't happen the Yanks are in trouble. They will be down 1-0 and they don't want to face Cliff Lee in game 7. That means that the Yanks will need to win 4 of the next 5, doable but tough.

I'm torn. I would love nothing more than to see the Phillies beat the Yanks in the WS, but I also get some joy watching them lose to the Rangers...

Who to pull for.. hmmm?.... ;)

I know what you mean. I can't root for the Yankees even though I'd rather see the Phils beat them in the WS.

If the Yankees were playing Marshall I'd hope for a plane crash.

The Yankees have tied it at 5 all and have runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs in the top of the 8th. So much for the Ranger bullpen not being chokers.

I don't recall the Twins bullpen blowing a 4 run lead in the 8th.

Not like this, this is epic choke. 7 men up, 7 men on base 5 runs in and nobody out. I always wanted to pitch like a major leaguer, now I know I'm good enough for the Ranger bullpen.

This almost guarantees that Cliff Lee will sign with the Yankees next year.

Twins have lost 12 straight playoff games, this is one bad game for the Rangers. :kisswink:

Agreed, although they are close to getting out of the inning only down by a run. They still have a chance, but they better score in the 8th 'cause they get Rivera in the 9th.

And Kerry Wood in the 8th.

Just now have to hope the bullpen is sharp despite so many off days.

That was a given when he wasn't traded there earlier this season. The Yanks didn't wanna have to pay more to get him when they could get him as a free agent at the end of the season.

There is no guarantee that the Yankees get him, especially if the Rangers offer him a lot of money and beat the Yankees in the ALCS. Right now it doesn't look good for the Rangers.

No, there isn't a guarantee, but it's highly likely. They need to just throw Burnett out to the wolves.
