The APA and the DSM are the professional standard for the biz. Just because your personal beliefs don't allign with the accepted professional methodology doesn't make the methodology biased, fringe, or quack. It just means your value set doesn't line with the professional standards.
Your point is well taken, but the mainstream is not always right, and I am not judging from afar.
In my dozen or so professional interactions with psychologists and social workers, MAYBE 2 or 3 of them exhibited somewhat professional behavior. The vast majority were extremely and shockingly uninformed and undisciplined. If I had been so sloppy as a professional pilot in the military, I would have l killed someone. If I had been so sloppy as a consultant in the private sector, I would have been immediately fired.
