Re: California's Prop 19
Regardless of the result of the vote, and my sister who lives in Mendocino says it won't pass, the argument of whether to legalize is irrelevant. Tens of millions of citizens have decided that it is OK and just like gun control, the horse is out of the barn and long gone. You can't collect 100,000,000 guns no matter how much you want to and even the Prison Industrial Complex of the United States can't have any effect on marijuana use. Both issues only serve to highlight the degree to which our government is no longer of, by, and for the people. Prop 19 will have little to no effect on marijuana usage, pass or fail. Just as with gun ownership, the government is getting left behind by tens of millions of citizens who know bullshit when they see it.

I sympathize with the ones who want to keep it nonpolitical as possible. It's all these peckerwoods trying to insert themselves in front of them and bestow their own agendas upon them that keeps me away. I think they should have only one agenda item - to vote against any and all incumbents at all times. You'll lose a few good politicians but the other 99% will be gone before they can do too much damage. The populace needs to take a cue from the professionals and divide and conquer.travelinman67 wrote:Join the Tea Party.houndawg wrote:...Both issues only serve to highlight the degree to which our government is no longer of, by, and for the people.

Exactly, which is why the state should step in and take any cut, no matter how small, and use it to pay off some of our mounting expenses.houndawg wrote:Prop 19 will have little to no effect on marijuana usage, pass or fail. I’m not sure how this plays into gun rights, but from my experiences in life, guns tend to hang around the house a hell of a lot longer than a dime sack of weed does.

Soros, Lewis and Zimmer are the quintessential greed-driven puppetmasters.George Soros, the multibillionaire investor who helped bankroll three initiatives to change drug laws in California, endorsed the marijuana legalization initiative Monday and plans to make a major financial contribution to the campaign.
Soros, who invested $3 million in the medical marijuana initiative and two other measures, made his announcement in an opinion piece published online by the Wall Street Journal. "Proposition 19 already is a winner no matter what happens on election day. The mere fact of its being on the ballot has elevated and legitimized public discourse about marijuana and marijuana policy in ways I could not have imagined a year ago," Soros wrote...
...Peter B. Lewis, a retired insurance company executive, recently donated $209,005 to the campaign, and George Zimmer, the founder and CEO of Men’s Wearhouse, recently gave $50,000. Both businessmen
supported past initiatives to change the state’s drug laws.
Their endorsement speaks volumes to the ethicacy and motives behind legalization.

Re: California's Prop 19
Pot should be legal. Most forms of it are no worse than most over-the-counter meds.
As my dad, a strong Conservative, said "You don't hear about pot-heads killing other people like you do drunk people".
Legalize it and tax it. You show up to work high off pot, your fired just like if you show up to work drunk.
I saw a documentary about it where a woman moved to Cali because of the medical marijuana. She's a big-time business player but endures chronic pain due to past cancer. She uses a vaporizer and then inhales it through the machine so there's no smoke or residue. And because of it, she can function on a daily basis in relative comfort. Tell me how is that wrong?
Yeah people will abuse it, but people will abuse Tylenol and any other drug out there. Caffeine is a drug and people abuse it by drinking too many sodas. It's a shame that the stigma is preventing any national lawmakers from wanting to step out and do something.
