Yep. Remember that four games (assuming a 7-game World Series) will be sans DH in an NL park this year. The Rangers have a formidable offense, but I'll take the Giants or Phils starting pitchers over them, even with Lee.

The slimiest organization is the D-Backs. Intentionally giving away Schilling for nothing just to hurt another team makes the D-Backs even slimier than the Rangers.

The Yankees set the standard for professionalism and ethics. Their front office has a baseball-wide reputation for dealing with organizations on the up-and-up.

As one GM said after the Rangers/Mariners slimed the Yankees, you just don't do that to other teams, saying that the Yankees certainly would never give you their word that a deal was done, and then shop your offer around.

It ain't complicated. The president makes more than a congressman, right?

A player gets a raise from his minor league salary when he makes a major league team; and if he advances past the major leagues, and makes the Yankees, he gets a raise then too.

Do you think that a Yankee should be paid the same as a Diamondback? The Yankees are the ultimate franchise in the baseball universe. The Diamondbacks are a AAA+ league team, and barely that. Come on.

We acquired a guy once who was a great Diamondback. His name was Randy Johnson. It turns out that, as good as everyone thought he was, he really wasn't good enough to be a Yankee. We had to farm him back out to the bush leagues in Arizona, where he continued to dominate at the AAA+ level.

I'm not sure the Yankees will be able to afford both Lee and Crawford. Texas and Anaheim will both likely be in the Lee sweepstakes, thereby driving up his price. The Yankees already have a high payroll next year (I think they owe A-Roid $32 million) and they have to resign Jeter, Rivera and Posada.

I hope the Yankees sign Lee because it increases the chances that Jayson Werth will be back in Phila. next year.
