Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Big Sky

SAC 24-28 EWU
PORTST 41-44 WEB
NAU 21-24 UMT
NOCO 35-37 MTST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 11-10

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 4-1

Best Performance: (#7) Montana 24, (#22) Northern Arizona 21 - The Griz win their fifth in a row thanks to a two-minute TD drive from a previously dormant offense. Clutch wins are no stranger to Montana, who has a 26-6 record in one-score games since 2004.

Worst Performance: Portland St. 41, Weber St. 44 - The Viks rack up 600 yards & don't turn the ball over, but still end up with another tragic loss.

Most Surprising Result: Northern Colorado 35, (#15) Montana St. 37 - The Bears put yet another scare into a good team with a lot to lose, but can't get the job done. UNC is the anti-Montana, posting a miserable 3-16 record in one-score games since joining the Big Sky in 2006.

Southland

NWST 16-3 TXST
SFA 31-28 SHSU (in Houston, TX)
MCNSE 13-10 SELA

    Overall: 11-5

Best Performance: (#5) Stephen F. Austin 31, Sam Houston St. 28 - Jeremy Moses throws for 418 yards and 4 touchdowns in knocking off a hot Bearkat squad.

Worst Performance: Texas St. 3, Northwestern St. 16 - Bobcats average just 3 yards-per-play & complete just 37% of their passes as they suffer another puzzling loss.

Most Surprising Result: Texas St. 3, Northwestern St. 16 - Texas State was 3-1 with a couple strong wins at the end of September, but has gone 0-3 since their week 5 bye despite a mediocre slate of opponents.

Missouri Valley

INST 15-27 NDSU
YSU 20-30 SDKST
ILST 14-42 UNI
WIU 28-31 MIZST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 12-6

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 7-3

Best Performance: Missouri St. 31, (#21) Western Illinois 28 - The Bears still can't play good defense, but 351 rushing yards are enough to overcome that.

Worst Performance: Illinois St. 14, (#19) Northern Iowa 42 - The Redbirds actually outgain UNI, but still lose by 28 because of 4 turnovers.

Most Surprising Result: Missouri St. 31, (#21) Western Illinois 28 - At 59 total points, this was actually MSU's lowest scoring game since the opening week.

OVC

EKU 21-40 SEMO
MUR 38-28 EIU
AP 3-56 JAXST
TTU 21-10 TSU
LAMB 21-52 UTM

  • NConf Record: 1-0

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 7-6

Best Performance: (#3) Jacksonville St. 56, Austin Peay 3 - Though they're 8-0, this was the Gamecocks' first real blowout of the season.

Worst Performance: Austin Peay 3, (#3) Jacksonville St. 56 - Governors suffer their worst defeat since a 54-0 loss to Drake in 2005.

Most Surprising Result: Tennessee St. 10, Tennessee Tech 21 - Tigers play even in turnovers & nearly double TTU in yardage, but still lose to an in-state rival anyway.

Patriot League

BUCK 10-32 LEH
HC 31-24 COLG
LAF 10-14 FORD
GTOWN 20-33 SACHRT

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 12-22

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 12-20

Best Performance: Holy Cross 31, Colgate 24 - Crusaders recover 2 fumbles & score on a 93-yard kick return from Andrew Zitnick in pulling a surprising upset.

Worst Performance: Georgetown 20, Sacred Heart 33 - Losing to a bad NEC team proves the Hoyas are back to normal.

Most Surprising Result: Colgate 24, Holy Cross 31 - The Raiders have proven they can crush crap teams, but they've struggled mightily against anyone with a pulse.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Worst Performance: St. Francis (PA) 7, Monmouth 19 - Red Flash amass just 178 yards & fall to 2-16 all-time versus Monmouth.

Most Surprising Result: Albany 27, Central Connecticut St. 30 (OT) - How could the Danes be demoralized any further following last week's blowout? By throwing away a 24-6 halftime lead against another conference opponent.

CAA

JMU 7-14 NOVA
UMASS 13-39 UNH
MAINE 28-23 URI
TOW 6-28 RICH
UD 16-17 W&M

Most Surprising Result: (#12) Massachusetts 13, (#10) New Hampshire 39 - Kyle Havens throws for 450 yards, but the Minutemen somehow manage just 13 points as they continue their nosedive.

Big South

PRESBY 26-24 GWEBB
SBU 38-28 CCU
VMI 34-16 CHSO

  • NConf Record: 0-0

Best Performance: Presbyterian 26, Gardner-Webb 24 - Blue Hose end the nation's longest losing streak at 20 games.

Worst Performance: Charleston Southern 16, VMI 34 - Keydets force 4 picks from Buc QB Andrew Trudnowski.

Most Surprising Result: Gardner-Webb 24, Presbyterian 26 - Akron must be a really horrible FBS team, because the Bulldogs are 1-4 against nothing-special competition since beating the Zips.

MEAC

DSU 24-34 MORG
FAMU 17-13 NFOLK
HOW 32-52 NCAT
BCOOK 23-10 NCCEN
HAMP 7-10 SCSU
SAV 0-24 ALST

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 7-20

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 1-11

Best Performance: (#18) South Carolina St. 10, Hampton 7 - The Bulldog O still can't do much, but the D keeps up their stellar play by holding Hampton to 144 yards.

Worst Performance: Howard 32, North Carolina A&T 52 - Bison commit 5 turnovers & give up 438 yards to a winless team.

Most Surprising Result: (#14) Bethune-Cookman 23, NC Central 10 - I guess the Wildcats were still celebrating the SCSU win on Saturday, because this was an opponent they should have smoked.

SoCon

APP 37-14 WCU

    Overall: 11-2

Best Performance: (#24) Tennessee-Chattanooga 36, (#25) Furman 28 - Mocs score 26 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to overcome 5 turnovers.

Worst Performance: The Citadel 0, Georgia Southern 20 - Running for 113 yards is passable for most teams, but not for a team trying to establish the triple option.

Most Surprising Result: Elon 21, (#14) Wofford 28 - This game wasn't surprising, but what's shocking is that talented Elon is 1-4 against FCS.

Tomorrow: Non-playoff conferences.

Hmmmm, I thought the 9 turnovers (6 fumbles and 3 interceptions) would have been the stat you would reference. Can't run the ball when you don't have it. :ohno:

What's more surprising is they're still getting votes in the TSN and coaches' polls.

You're right. I missed that when I was skimming the box score.

Most Surprising Result: Dartmouth 24, Columbia 21 - Nick Schwieger might be the best runner no-one's heard of. He doesn't show up much on a lot of season stat lists because the Ivies don't start until Week 3, but the Big Green RB is third in FCS at 141.8 ypg.
