They want to be back on the top half of the standings - going to the CAA is not going to speed that up. Going to the historically weak OVC will. I think the OVC playoff curse is still in effect - though that could be cured this year.
Morons of the month - October

Looks like certain people on this board finally have a reason to trade in their US Passports

The fan base really is scratching to get back into, I can tell that.

The OVC and CAA is a small footprint for them to cover as well.

5th place in the CAA gets them into the playoffs, 5th place is not going to get them in fro the MVFC. The OVC they would likely be towards the top of the conference.

I haven't saw anything from their administrators, but if they have half the itch that the fan base seems to have I don't think they are MVFC...or maybe even FCS...more than 2 or 3 more years.

I don't think YSU is headed anywhere. Those message board rumors have been going on for years.

What does that have to do with the Big Sky leadership getting b-slapped by USD?

Really good article from the Tribe-Star

TERRE HAUTE — In a whirlwind series of events, the Missouri Valley Football Conference added its 10th member today.

The University of South Dakota will enter the MVFC and will begin playing a conferene schedule in 2012.

MVFC Commissioner Viverito formally invited USD to the conference on Wednesday. The current MVFC league presidents have unanimously approved the move. Viverito is at the Vermillion, S.D. university and an official announcement was made this afternoon.

Playing on our turf, rather than yours? good OOC match-ups. Next time a BSC (besides UND) sees SDSU on a FB field, it will start in Brookings. :thumb:

Good poker play there Yotes!

UND. There's this bridge for sale down here in Cajun country.....

Time for the Big Sky to call Utah Valley and tell them to start football or invite UN-Omaha from D-II or tell C.Washington to find some loose change and move to the Big Sky from D-II.

Of course there's no headache if Montana just joins the WAC :thumb:

Looks like UND might have jumped the gun at bit. It looks like they rushed things a bit. A Summit League offer, I believe, was basically a done deal. All the Summit League wanted to do was their formal process of offering. I'm sure a MVFC invite would have followed shortly there after since Cal Poly and UC Davis were headed to the Big Sky for football and likely SUU to follow shortly there after (as was seen last week). Now they are in a conference with no real rivalries (No. Colo if you want to count that from the NCC days) and no real close conference games. Plus they have the Montana schools possibility of leaving in the near future hanging over that conference. Instead, they go ahead and cancel the Summit League visit and jump at the first offer they got without thinking thinking and seeing how things played out. They look like the oddball of the bunch in the Big Sky instead of forming the new backbone of the Summit League. Poor decision by them.

Fabulous news for the MVFC and the Summit. USD was a great addition to both conferences. They really fit the footprint. I assure all of you that havent gone to a game in Vermillion to go. I've been there many times for games. We stay up in Sioux Falls because of the choice of hotels and the restaurants.

We just played the first of a 2 for 1 home/home. Wonder how that will work out?

This move also preserves the Big Three Dakota schools: NDSU, SDSU & USD in the same conferences. Having the round-robin will really enhance the Summit. The MVFC will benefit too. There is a strong tie to the Dakotas and UNI.

These leagues are tight enough so they will probably turn into big time travel leagues for the fan bases especially when the games get big. That means more prosperous programs!

Congratulations and welcome to USD!
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

CWU's going nowhere. They don't have the facilities or money for any move to Division I.

I would actually entertain the idea of a Utah Valley State.......it's a pretty large school (33k undergrads) and they seem to have a decent b-ball program. I have also heard rumors that they would start a football program if they were offered BSC membership.

Seriously, Fullerton should get these folks on the phone.

I know, thus the find some loose change comment. Yes hit up UVU first see if they can start football in a couple of years if not invite UN-Omaha who's AD has been pushing for them to move to D-I. Utah Valley dropped the state part to sound cooler :?

Oh and EWU now has the best looking field EVER! :notworthy:

You're saying that you assume the MVFC would have invited UND as well...despite that bringing the total to 11 members. I wouldn't be so sure of that assumption.

Agreed, everytime I see Blackfalkin's avatar I have to stop for a second. Now about football.

UN-Omaha will be targeted like that by the MVFC. You would be looking at 5 previous members of the NCC in the MVFC in a very tight footprint. And then of course you court UND back in and establish an East-West divisions.
UND will drop the BSC faster than you can say "But we got hockey!" if the MVFC and Summit come a-courting.

Let me clear things up:

1. We have no intention of moving up to the MAC.
2. We have had NO TALKS about joining the CAA, though I would love it.

With that being said, YSU cannot possibly like this move. We are already going to the Dakota's once a year as it currently stands and now we are going to have to waste more $$ to go up their via a charter, etc. etc. I am very interested in seeing what our A.D. says in the papers tomorrow or on the news tonight.

And oh yeah, I don't know ANYONE from Youngstown that wants to go to the OVC. Enough with the false rumors.

Apparently Ind St has an agreement with the MVFC that with this new addition, they will still only have to travel to the dakotas 1 time per season. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys try to arrange something similar?

That part of the article, with such arrangements being made for InSU and SIU, if true, leads me to believe that they have some sort of east/west division setup in mind.

When we joined YSU was one of our biggest supporters, I don't think they mind traveling if it is good for the conference. The two schools most against us were SIU and Indiana State and they both got travel arrangements.

I don't think that its that far of a stretch of an assumption that it could be a possibility. We'll never know since they jumped at the first opportunity without seeing all their options.

Problem is, our AD said the same thing about having only one long trip each year. Well, that can't happen with division splits nor can it happen for all the schools. Will be interesting how this shakes out...

MSU to South Dakota is about the same distance as MSU to UNI.
