He seemed old when I was a kid though.

I thought he was older than he was.
When I heard he was 76, I was shocked he wasn't older.
He was "before my time", but I have the utmost respect for what he was as a manager

He was the Red's manager when they won back-to-back WS titles in '75 and '76. He looked old back then.clenz wrote:I thought he was older than he was.

I've missed Captain Hook for quite some time.
There's an argument that he was the best manager my Reds ever had. Of course, he had some awesome players (Bench, Rose, Perez, Concepcion, Griffey Sr., Billingham, Eastwick, etc.) to back that up.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: RIP Sparky Anderson
I had the pleasure to attend the last series he managed in Baltimore in 1995. It was also the last series that Lou Whittaker and Alan Trammel would play together in, as Whittaker was retiring that year. Cal Ripken presented second base to the all time double play combination before the final game. Pretty classy thing to do on the part of the Orioles organization.
RIP Sparky.
Say hi to Ernie for me.
