Voters Send Message To New Hampshire Republicans

Post by UNHWildCats »

They were heard very loudly at the ballot box on Tuesday and now voters in New Hampshire want to make sure they were heard clearly.

Voters are taking to political forums and media message board to get the word out. Telling the new GOP Super Majority in Concord that they voted for them to fix the economic mess in New Hampshire and that if the GOP forces a far right social agenda on the state, their majority in Concord could be short lived.

Its now up to the incoming leadership in the House and Senate to decide if they want to put their new majority on the line. Many expect early moves by the new legislature to include a repeal of the same sex marriage law and to re-implement a parental notification law for minors seeking an abortion.

Kevin Smith who heads Cornerstone Action, one of the states leading conservative groups said "a clear majority of the voters are with us. They never wanted gay marriage in the first place."

However, a UNH poll in 2009 during the legislative action that enacted Same sex marriage showed 55% of Granite Staters supported Same Sex Marriage while 35% opposed it.
