And SUU is one of them as well.

This rule is about football only and is designed to ensure a distinction between the Division I subdivisions in football. It is not about other sports.

There is an NCAA rule and that is that only one FCS school each year can count toward bowl eligibility and that FCS school must a minimum number of scholarships (something like 58).

Not only that we beat then #13 ranked Cal Poly (there now #21 or #20 i believe now) and currently are sitting at 5-2 against fellow FCS teams including a pretty good South Dakota team. Maybe before you say that we wont compete you should look at all the facts and at least give us a chance. Besides i doubt we would be any worse then Colorado School of Mines
Beat Eastern Washington and the respect level will rise.

Its going to be Big Sky contraction all right but now it looks like UND is bolting for the MVFC/Summit deal:
If UND decides it isn't rock solid with the agreement it signed Monday, which doesn't require the school to be a Big Sky member for a minimum number of years, Fullerton said there could be a financial penalty. But only if UND goes about it "the wrong way."

Fullerton didn't explain what that way would be, but said if North Dakota was up front about all its dealings before an exit from the conference there would be no buyout fee.

Dont put too much faith in the idea they will do the right thing.

if it works out better for them then I say good luck to them. The MVFC is far better for them with the location so good luck. :thumb:

UND is going to the Big Sky in 2012. There is no backroom deal going on. The Sioux are not backing out.

I attended a Sioux Boosters meeting today and every one of the coaches who spoke was excited about the Big Sky and looked forward to that move. And the one that most emphatic about the Big Sky being the right choice (hold on to your hat Bison fans) Dave Hakstol, the hockey coach.

Well Ursus, there won't be any invite from the MVFC, so UND will be in the Big Sky come 2012. We'll have to see if we can get together next weekend for Sioux-Griz....

No its not. Havent you been reading siouxsports.com? Right now the BSC is the best thing in college athletics and they just make it better. A couple fans are saying its a good fit until they make the FBS move in a couple years. Get ready for another 180 from them. Its going to go from the BSC is the greatest and the Summit/MVFC suck to the Summit/MVFC are the greatest and the BSC sucks. Heck, they are even talking about playing NDSU every other year!

They are just taking their lead from NDSU and SDSU which both thought the Big Sky was the greatest, well that was until the Big Sky said no thank you to them. Now they are saying that the Summit with IUPUI, Oakland, Centenary, UMKC and IPFW is such a great conference.

Wow! You heap scorn on all those schools? Well ok then. I know how you discriminate.

I don't think opinions changed on the BSC when the Mighty Land Grants weren't invited. There was disappointment but at that time there were other programs that couldn't get an invite anywhere either so NDSU developed a new conference in cooperation with other programs. You may remember that?

It was much later when things broke with the Summit and MVFC for us.

Earlier I had thought this might have been planned by the commissioners. Its obvious now after watching how UND has lurched around and USD been so stealthy and the BSC looking a little bewildered that the business plan didn't play out exactly as planned that this was all spontaneous.

If this were a perfect fit or a perfect plan there wouldnt be so much instability surrounding it. There is a lot of fan grumbling and commissioner comments to attest to that. Contraction is next.

No scorn here, just pointing out some of the teams that are your conference mates. If you are happy, then I am happy for you. You are right about contraction is next, I hear that YSU is looking for a new conference. :coffee:

Fortunately USD has now joined the MVFC. I dont think there is any seceret about liking more members. Its the same for the BSC. They were seeking stability and had a good plan when they went after the GWC. They came up a little short, USD had a lot to lose and a lot to gain from their decision and Tom douppel just said there was a lot of interest in UND and still is. He said the Summit is targeting UNO and have been in contact with Saint Cloud State. He sounded positive about both.

Patty Viverito (sp) is on http://www.wday.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; after this break.

I dont know who these gee haw hosts are on sports talk but they were sure down at the mouth about the possibilities of UND and NDSU playing football anytime soon. They dont think there is much chance.

I was at NDSU/SDSU in '06 & '07. And I saw UND/USD last year. Nothing special.
 No ya knucklehead, USD vs SDSU and UND vs NDSU, not the marker game. They don't stress the reading comprehension much for graphic design artists eh? :kisswink:

No, you didn't get what I meant. I saw all 4 teams...none impressed me. SDSU was the only team I've had respect for out of those 4.

I gotcha, I don't base my view of a rivalry off of the quality of the teams playing necissarily, its about much more than that for me. USD-SDSU and UND-NDSU are just a pure hate. I know on the message boards right now a lot of SDSU fans are saying oh yay for USD but the vast majority of people I talk to are pissed and were hoping that their team would have had no conference and eventually had to fold, verbatum from a friend of mine. Thats some pretty pure hate there.

Yep, of course once the Summit drops SUU and Centenary our BB RPI jumps above the mighty Big West.Question, what is Oakland and IUPUI's RPI? Projected 2010-11 they would be #1 and #2 in the Big West. Since you have issues with them what does that say about your conference?

By the way, we used to enjoy playing Cal Poly. They had a lot of respectful fans. I guess times have changed. Good luck in your new FB conference. Once UM leaves you can become the big dog. Of course you will still get hammered when you travel to the midwest for OOC games

I have nothing but respect for both NDSU, SDSU and USD. Great programs with passionate fans. I am just having fun with one NDSU poster that is obessed with UND and turns any thread that has anything to do with UND into a p!ssing match. It has got him banned from other boards. I was hoping that now UND had moved into another conference he would also move on. No such luck.

I know that MVFC/Summit is great fit for all three and wish all three programs well. I also think that the Big Sky is a great fit for UND where they will do well.
