National League Gold Glove Awards

Post by Gil Dobie »

National League Winners Announced.

Link
The 2010 National League Gold Glove winners list is out, and this is definitely an interesting list. Scott Rolen won another Gold Glove, as did Albert Pujols, but several first-time
Gold Glove winners made the list this time around. Unlike over in the American League, the National League winners aren't necessarily the superstars of their teams, and some of these defensive wizards are finally getting recognized for what they have been able to do on the field recently. Managers and coaches helped to decide this year's winners, and they certainly made some nice choices.

The National League Gold Glove-winning infielders were Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals at first base, Brandon Phillips of the Cincinnati Reds at second base, Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies, and Scott Rolen, also of the Reds, at third base. For Rolen, this is a pretty amazing accomplishment because it becomes the third National League team where he has won a Gold Glove. Rolen also won it for the St. Louis Cardinals (four times) and the Philadelphia Phillies (three times) before his 2010 win in Cincinnati. This one was well-deserved as well, and he could be in the discussion as one of the best fielding third basemen of all time.

Taking home the Gold Gloves in the outfield were Carlos Gonzalez from Colorado, Michael Bourn from the Houston Astros, and Shane Victorino from Philadelphia. This was the second straight win for Bourn, the third straight for Victorino, and the first time that Gonzalez has won a Gold Glove. Gonzalez burst on to the scene in 2010 not just for his great defense, but for the way he was able to handle the bat. He ended the season with a .336 batting average, 34 home runs, and 117 RBI to thrust his name not just into the Triple Crown race, but into the National League MVP discussions as well.

Different Titleist AP2 Irons in 2010

titleist 2010 ap2 irons differs from manufacturer to manufacturer . Majority of the titleist 2010 ap2 used to be hard cover surlyn types but it is not necessary the case anymore. The materials vary to suit the different types of feel, distance, spin or trajectory that they are trying to achieve for certain categories of golfers. ishiner

So the spam that innundated BigSkyFans for months has finally hit here. Wow.

I hate to run smack on a member of my favorite team, but I gotta question the idea of Rolen as best 3B of all time. I just can't see how he compares to Brooks Robinson.

Mike Schmidt is the best 3B of all time.

I considered him. Great bat. Great CLUTCH bat. Overall, there's much to be said for Schmidt. I'm not sure his glove comes up to the standard of Robinson's, though. In any event, I don't think my Reds have ever had a regular 3B as good as Schmidt in ANY category. Sabo occupied space for a while, and Rose was better at second and in the outfield.

How is that? People with mod privileges can ban anyone except admins and other mods, right? That's the way it works on other Chris-sites.

I was lucky enough to see both in person. No one covered to his right better than Brooks Robinson and Mike Schmidt covered the hole to the left better than anyone I have ever seen. Schmidt extended the career of Larry Bowa by 3 to 5 years. Schmidt took balls that looked like hits and turned them into Double Plays. Robinson took likely extra base hits and turned them into outs.

This is a great debate. Only Robinson dominated a World Series with his glove. That World Series was against Rose, Bench, Morgan and the rest of the Big Red Machine.

I put Rolen behind both. That is not a knock.
