Ever see it?
I'm no Phyllis Schlafly-Conk Culture Cvnt, but I, nonetheless, think the show somehow "glorifies" teen pregnancy. Yeah, they show the girls staying up all night taking care of the baby and never getting her studying done, and they show the boy working extra hours at the town Hardware Hank while trying to pass Math and graduate. However, when I put myself into a 16 yr old girl's shoes, I begin to think how "wonderful" it is to have my friends and Mom throw me a big-ass shower and receive tons of gifts - it is portrayed as all soooo easy....and fun!
Man, it's one of my biggest fears that one of the Little Cats knocks up some neighbor girl and we have to go through that parenting hell. If it happens, I'll be supportive, but, damn it, I'm doing all I can to emphasize to my boys the need to not get caught in that situation! At 14, they're inheriting my porn collection.
For me, I believe in sex ed; abstinence-only is a joke. Parents SAY they want to be the ones who teach their kids about sex, but a huge number of them don't actually do it - mostly becasue they don't know how and they default to their own less-than-pleasant experiences with sex talk. Funny, too, that of all the episodes, I've watched in the last couple of months (15-20), they've all taken place in the South.
Thoughts on, or experiences with teen pregnancy?

"Sorry, Daddy."
