Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
Pretty disappointed. Not a real surprise that Albany's not winning the league this year, but the losses to Duquesne and Bryant weren't expected, and the manner of losing to CCSU after the halftime lead was worse. The 3-0 Maine win gave false hope and was more indicative of our offense than defense.

Epic fail for Southern, I felt with a young team (especially with a new QB and new coaching staff) they'd win 5 or 6 games. Add to that your head coach telling everyone the team would go 12-0. And to only have won 2 games and looked good in maybe 1 quarter of 4 of those games and lead the nation in penalties is not a good look.
At least he did bring in a good placekicker.

The jury is still out. If we win out I will be thrilled. If we finish 1-1 I will feel “meh”. Lose out and I will be very disappointed.
Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
It all depends on this weekend. So right now, neither.

as long as we don't let App kill us Saturday, I think I'll be thrilled considering we were 3-8 last year and some considered us to only win about 6 games last year

Thoroughly disappointed. Some of the best athletes in Chuck South history and it just did not pan out like it appeared it would. We have some immensely talented young talent coming up so I am optimistic about the future of Buc football under Jay Mills. Just hope he doesn't get disgusted and go somewhere else.

Meh. We seem to be getting our act together. Disappointed it took as long as it did.

I predicted 8-3. Looks like we can still make it. This is a young team that over the next few years is only going to get better.Gil Dobie wrote:I expected NDSU to be 5-6, but they're are 6-3 and the team still needs work, but could still get in the playoffs.
Im happy with the teams performance. Its not perfect but the sign of a good team is weekly improvement. Ive seen that.

Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
Record wise App is about where I expected them to be right now so no complaints there. That said, this team still hasn't totally jelled and the offense has digressed the last couple of weeks instead of getting better. The Wofford game will give us a pretty good idea of where we stand this weekend.
Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
Yep. There are two things you can thank for it taking so long.HI54UNI wrote:Meh. We seem to be getting our act together. Disappointed it took as long as it did.
The coaches not being able to decide between Davis and Rennie. They have finally setteled on Rennie, and it is paying off big time.
and
The o-line experience, or lack-there-of. 3 combined starts coming into the season, all from one player. The line didn't have the "best 5" out there until the last week or two.
We seem to be getting our shit together at the right time though.

Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
Very disappointed. Season started great with wins over Cal Poly and SUU. Then a different team showed up and tanked the season. The news of moving to the WAC is the only thing keeping this season interesting.

Ditto.
Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
disappointed... we let a couple of games get away from us that we should not have. This has been a team that is very inconsistent this year they show signs of the team I expected them to be and then they take a step back again. I am not pissed off disappointed, we win out and we have gone 6-1 over the last seven of the season which give a great building block for next year. But not up to the standards I want to become accustomed to

Moderately diappointed with Harvard. Penn was favored coming in to the season, and they will likely repeat. Harvard should have won the Lehigh game -- one bad defensive quarter and jobbed by the refs at the end -- and plain didn't show up for Brown.

Moderately pleased...
We came out of the blocks strong, with a win over Bill & Mary, and a very strong showing in the Big House...
But we stumbled big against UNH (not saying we should have won, but we just stunk up the joint) and Richmond, a team that was prime for the taking that particular week...
This weekend will really show what kind of team this years version is...

Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
let down. I know we're still young, only 14 seniors on this year's squad, but the terrible inconsistency shown by our offense is just baffling after 3 years into the Wagner era. I suspect that FINALLY he may relieve Keith Heckendorf of OC duties after the season. I do see some talent on this team though as several freshmen have already looked impressive this year (Roland Johnson, Deja Alexander, Brandon Pechloff) and the OL has actually done a halfway decent job. Still, year 3 of Wagner, we are staring at another 9 loss season unless we can knock off gnatsboro and the phoenix.
Still, with the news that the chancellor is stepping down, and hopefully several of his cronies as well, there is a good chance that WCU will finally acquire some young hungry administration folks that know just how important a winning football team is to the overall perception of the school. WCU loyalists can only hope.

Maine is the new URI.
As far as URI goes......maybe they should have leaked a rumor about going to the NEC 10 years ago.

Meh. I went into the season knowing we were still not there. I have seen improvement although it doesn't show in the win column.
That said, this season whomps.

Re: DISAPPOINTED? THRILLED? NEITHER?
Probably 'neither'. The G-W program is stagnant. Yes, injuries are part of the game, and we have had more than our share this fall. We had an epic win at FBS Akron to start the year, then immediately proceeded to crap out against WCU, SHSU, and ODU. I'd feel alot better if our coach wasn't constantly bellyaching and making every excuse possible (injuries, lack of schollies, fan support, you name it) and just man up and give opponents credit when they whip your ass.
Regime change is needed, but based on the speed of molasses that the G-W administration moves at in regards to coaching changes (see mens basketball as a prime example, who by the way, picked dead last in the BSC this fall, shocked UNC-Charlotte in Charlotte today 78-70), I don't expect any change in coaching, or on-field results, in the near future.
