This thread makes me lol. Thanks.

The PFL would be better off playing 9 conference games instead of playing sub d-I opponents

No, neither should. Neither is a playoff caliber team. RMU lost a lot of cred today by LU losing and RMU losing, so Dayton lost its leg to stand on, and JU has nothing to stand on, since an ODU win isn't meaningful at all.

Congrats on winning (but not playing each other, well set up league you've got there), but no playoffs.
Suffice it to say I disagree!

The only difference I can see SH is that if they wanted to play pretty much any team from the BSC they could have a game. Most would love to replace the D2 home game with a counter if they could. Problem is if they aren't willing to take that spot and instead want a H&H they don't have the clout to get that. In the BSC they would be any more of a draw than the D2's for a fanbse and the ticket price would remain at the low end so that wouldn't entice anybody to give up another home game in the future. I do not know what the PFL teams usually get for a payout to go on the road buy I imagine that they would be worth about 50-60K at least for MSU/UM if they wanted it.

They could probably find that kind of a deal from many MVFC, SLC, CAA, & a few others out there as well.

And I agree that they should have an auto but they don't so any teams in that league should do what they can be to look good for an AQ...which I don't see them doing this year.

  Jacksonville got AppState and ODU on their schedule. So what is so tough with Dayton finding a MVC, CAA, etc team to play? I can only assume Dayton isn't getting ducked by "cowardly" teams as much as their AD's yellow streak is showing.

Oh, and the Boise thing; it hold no water either. No one loss team is ahead of them and so I can only assume you feel a WAC schedule is superior to a PAC10, SEC or MWC schedule?   Get real man. Again!!

Dayton's major scheduling problem is they won't play money games. They want home-and-homes and the major conference teams won't do that. See Albany's consistent 4-home games schedules as the testament to that.

Going to be in the minority here... but, I believe Jacksonville is worthy of an at large bid.

Contrary to popular belief.... Jacksonville actually gave us a good game at Kidd Brewer this year. It was a 3 point game halfway through the 3rd quarter. We pulled away at the end and the score is not reflective of the type of team Jacksonville has. Just like the Wofford score isn't reflective of their team. We have a tendency to embarass teams sometimes at KBS.

I'd much rather have a 1 loss Jacksonville than another 4 loss team. Jacksonville is deserving.

for the life of me I will never figure out how a 3-8 team can play App better than a 9-2 team, nor can I understand how they beat GSU at home by 36 one year and lose the next. I'd love to play App away from KB

I am with you on this one. J'ville's, ODU (7-3) win and their only loss is to top 5 AppState. That makes them worthy of an at-large.

Depends who they're up against. Against Richmond and UMass and Georgia Southern? No. But against Liberty and SCSU and ODU and FAMU and CCST, then yes.

Or how bout the Great West teams ever since its inception to its death in 2012 they are starving for OOC games, and I know SDSU was struggling to find a home game this year for an OOC until at the last minute they got UND.

Well then, maybe you should consider college.... If by some freak of nature you actually attended an institution of higher learning, I'm sure the school would appreciate you keeping it under your hat. No need to embarass a institution by admitting you attended....

Bottom line is neither team deserves a bid on their perfomance, but if it were to ever happen, this would be the year. I-AA as a whole is down this year and the committee is going to have an awfully hard time finding the final at-large teams.

I'd like to see the official list of teams ducking Dayton; that's bullshit.

The NEC, clearly Jacksonville...and others somehow schedule up. But Dayton does not...so they shouldnt bitch about an at-large bid in a year where there is no true way to tell how good they are.

Troof. I meant to include them in the topic because if you really are stuck on getting the H&H then EVERY team in the GWC is on the table for you. Saying that Dayton can't schedule a game with traditionally stronger teams is complete BS until I see a statement from the AD @ Dayton saying otherwise.

Correct. But the NCAA has to find 10 at-large teams, so it is what it is.

I'm a fan of the PFL, but I have to say that I don't believe that either Dayton's or Jacksonville's resume is sufficient for an at-large bid this season.

As a fan of the NEC, I know that Robert Morris would struggle to get an at-large bid this year (if the NEC didn't have the AQ) because of their two "bad" losses (in the eyes of the committee) to Bryant and Dayton. However, I believe that RMU will move on to the second round in the playoffs and I would caution their second-round opponents to not take the Colonials lightly.

:twocents:
Well said coach. The PFL should get an automatic playoff bid if they want one. I have no idea how good Dayton and Jacksonville are, but they played some pretty good football this year.

The biggest problem with the PFL is the sub-DI games. I know some programs need to schedule them to get some W's, but it really hurts the league as a whole. If the Patriot League goes scholarship it should open up some additional games vs. the Ivies for PFL teams and I hope they take advantage of the opportunity.

Are you saying the PFL teams can't get good OOC games?

UNI might be taking another PFL player soon, as South Dakota is now a MVFC team (our previously closest non PFL OCC on FCS level). We usually take Drake because its a bus drive and we normally get a 2-1 deal. Also, the game at Drake is essentially another home game because of the alumni draw in the area.

Jacksonville and Dayton are welcome at the UNIDOME any time. Send one there on 12/4. See what happens. If the OVC & MEAC can lose 22 playoff games in 9 years, I think the PFL shouldn't be excluded from the club.
Morons of the month - October

Looks like certain people on this board finally have a reason to trade in their US Passports

Fuck Drake.

Drake seems to be refusing to play in the dome lately, and UNI should NOT have to play at Drake, and if we do it should be a 2/3-1.

Seriously though, I'd love to see any PFL team in the dome this year for the playoffs. Seriously, I'd welcome it and I'd probably buy one or two lucky fans of that team a ticket to the game if they made the trip.

UNI tried Dayton, but as has been discussed, they would only do home and home.
