Thanks guys.
Yes Ace, to the best of my knowledge we're headed to the NEC. However I don't think it is until the 2012 or 2013 season. I know we still have at least one more season in the CAA.
BTW, It looks like Stowers is working out pretty well for you guys. I'm glad for him. Tim's a good guy and a decent assistant coach...just don't make him your head coach if McInerney leaves.

But this doesn't go for the BSC.. SoCon or the MVC..
But a 5 loss (all in conference) CAA team was able to beat #16 ranked Virginia Tech..![]()

Re: URI leading Villanova
Thanks. I really like what Stowers has done with the offense this year - he has been a great addition. Mac is the man and he isn't leaving anytime soon. Now if we can improve the defense during the offseason, we should be a very good team next year! With what we bring back and what RMU looses (tons of seniors), we should be the NEC preseason favorite again and I hope to get our shot at the playoffs. I also heard we may see URI on the schedule next year as a non-conf opponent - can you confirm?COBBLESTONE wrote:Thanks guys.

Yes, I know that URI will play the 2011 season in the CAA, but is there some serious thought of sticking it out longer? While I know the NEC has been receptive to URI as a member, from what I heard the ball is in your court - the NEC is not seeking expansion, but is willing to help URI find a home if they want. I haven't heard that anything was signed or that it is a "done deal," so I guess URI could still try to work it out in a southern-based CAA for a while longer. Just wondering what the fans or anyone close to the program is hearing.

I'm enjoying the ride this season but most of our seasons haven't been like this and I'm not so sure we can keep it going. If we played like this every year then I'd be all for staying in the CAA but I've seen to many thrashings in my day. I like the thought of going NEC because I think we can more competetive. The only other NEC facilites I've seen are at Bryant and they're pretty nice. From what folks tell me URI's facilites are better than any others in the conference so I do think we'd have a recruiting advantage.
I haven't heard that you guys are on our schedule next season but I would not doubt it. For one thing we've played you guys before. Second, Mac was DC for a year on the Stowers staff and I know that Tim still has a good relationship with the URI community. It's a pretty strong possibility that a game will be on the schedule next season.
