No way SEMO outbids NDSU but keep dreaming.SEMOFB2010 wrote:So what you’re saying is that NDSU wouldn't play well against say an option team. They can come down to Cape Girardeau and then we can put to rest the whole SEMO hasn't done anything this year saga.

Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
I don't know if we beat them by more because their defense is playing better now...but then agian so is our offense, and I mean a lot better than the first couple weeks of the year. We wouldn't caugh up 21 points in the redzone like we did the first time we played them.SEMOFB2010 wrote:So what you’re saying is that NDSU wouldn't play well against say an option team. Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
I would love to play SEMO in the first round. It would mean NDSU has a home playoff game. Teams can't just pound the ball on NDSU, if teams try to do that they will lose.
It's mobile dual threat QB;s that have given us fits over the years.

I don't think you could outbid us....from what I have heard is that they are going to put in a sizeable bid. There is quit a bit of money down here. Especially with Rush Limbaugh's brother on the Board of Regents.

Just wondering what you think the bid NDSU will put out if they make the Playoffs? From what I am hearing SEMO is somewhere between 150 and 200.
Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
I'm halfheartedly pulling for the Bears in this one,
because an MSU victory is one part of the scenario that would yield 7 MVFC teams finishing with .500 conference records.
even though such a loss might mean only one MVFC team getting into the playoffs (I still think a 7-4 NDSU team, with a win over an FBS team from a BCS conference, stands a decent chance of getting an at-large)

You might be right SEMOFB2010, but look at the common opponent we both most recently had, SIU.SEMOFB2010 wrote:JBB...what are their stats at home? I am telling you they are a different beast at home then on the road.
MSU allowed them 41 pts NDSU 6
MSU scored 51 pts NDSU 20.
NDSU took a legit 400 yd/game offense from SIU, cut their production by 20% or so, had their average day and won.
Thats the secret to The BISON. Slow the other team up enough and get what the averages tell us we have coming and its a BISON win.
I dont have time to compare the BISON on the road to the Bears at home, but I would look at the UNI or Kansas games. The Ill State game is a good one too. We shot ourselves in the foot against a very good team.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

I'm guessing over 200 g's from the number I have seen based on attendance and what they can afford.SEMOFB2010 wrote:Just wondering what you think the bid NDSU will put out if they make the Playoffs? From what I am hearing SEMO is somewhere between 150 and 200.

I've heard $280,500 if we charge on average of $20 per ticket.
Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
It has been way too long since a play-off game in Fargo, and there has never been one in the dome (as UND fans are wont to remind us), so I would hope that Gene Taylor, President Brescani (sp?) and the Teammakers take it as a personal mission to make sure our bid is highly competitive.
It would really be the final feather-in-the-cap for the transition period.

Shouldn't you already be out of your transisitonal period?
I mean, this is your third year of being completely D1 as a university

Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
Sure, but I am sure that, for a FB school like NDSU, proving our competitiveness by making the playoffs was one of, if not THE, top goal when the transition was started. Certainly would have been nice to have a year or two earlier, but, that's the way it goes.clenz wrote:Shouldn't you already be out of your transisitonal period?

Of course, we've got to get there first...most direct way to do that is win on Saturday!

If you get NDSU it won't be at home unless you get a seed. No one west of the Mississippi not named University of Montana will put together a bid like NDSU. They have the money, stadium and attendance to easily host if they aren't traveling west to the Big Sky state.SEMOFB2010 wrote:So what you’re saying is that NDSU wouldn't play well against say an option team. Actually I would go as far as to say unless your name is Montana, Delaware, App State, or Seeds 1-5 you are going to have a tough time out bidding NDSU

Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
I was not impressed with Jose. Of course who are we at SDSU to question the skills of your QB. I think your defense is very solid but I do think they can be taken advantage of by the right player. They are young, physical and fly around. I'm doubt we would have been able to pull out a win with 4 interceptions, 2 pick sixes and a QB who went 18 of 42 but I do think a healthy Minett would have gone for 150 or more on Saturday (even with stacking) and he would have been able to make it a game. He is one of the smartest RBs I have watched when it comes to taking advantage of an over eager linebacker and he seems to be able to find holes that aren't there. I don't even want to imagine what he could have done this year with a QB able to open up the field.BisonBacker wrote:JacksFan29 you are absolutely correct if Jose Quervo is our QB. If Brock Jensen is back and available I'd say you are way off. The issue though even if Jensen is back and available is how much did the time off hurt his game? I think it will be a good game and the Bison defense should keep us in the game for sure but with Jose Quervo at QB I'm not seeing this Bison team beat anyone who has a good offense. Put it this way if not for our defense scoring 2 td's last week the Bison wouldn't be in the playoff hunt. I know they say a good defense will win you games but the offense has to show up and so far this year with Quervo at QB the only thing we have had is DJ McNorton as a weapon and all teams have to do is stack the box and make a sub par QB throw and our chances of winning are not real good. I know I sound down on this team but the only one's I'm down on is our OC for some really crappy play calling. Our QB who is at best a backup for most teams or a DII starter and our HC who hasn't proven anything since he's been playing with his own recruits. We are definetly on the upswing but how much room with this QB to move up is questionable. All the W's we have this year are either as a result of our D or a different starting QB (Jensen). Realisticly even if we win this unless Jensen comes back for the playoffs this team won't win in the first round assuming they win this weekend.Jacksfan29 wrote:If MSU can get up early NDSU will be in trouble. They have no offense outside of McNorton and I doubt they are capable of playing from behind against a good offense that can score quickly, see MSU, WIU, UNI.
Had SDSU been able to keep a healthy Minett on the field, even with O'brien giving up the ball 4 times SDSU would have had a shot at winning that game. The NDSU defense are stout but they like to fly around looking for the big hit instead of wrapping up. A good offense can take advantage of that and make them pay quickly. I'm not sure what MSU have in the backfield but to give you an idea of what a smart RB can do to an overplaying NDSU defense, Minett ran for over 50 in the 1st quarter before the injury.
For what it is worth, think the Bison are in at 7-4 if UNI beats WIU on Saturday (which I expect to happen). The MVFC will get two teams in. If UNI gets beat and the Bison lose all bets are off on whether a 7-4 NDSU gets in.

Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
That's some good numbers...didn't know it would cost that much. If NDSU wins and they decided to pair us I could see them sending SEMO to a 8-3 NDSU. But if they lose this weekend I don't see them sending SEMO to Fargo even if they pair them to play. NDSU would be 4-4 in conference and 7-4 overall. But it probably wont matter because if they lose they will have to play in the opening round.

Re: NDSU BISON*@Missouri State
I think mainly once you are in the playoffs and are paired up then your record doesn't matter for where you end up much if at all unless you are a seed. And I personally think that SEMO will be playing in the first round.SEMOFB2010 wrote:That's some good numbers...didn't know it would cost that much. I would add JMU (if there was not construction on the stadium going on this year), UNI, GA Southern and Florida A&M to the upper tier of bidders for home games. Maybe MT State. UNI gets lumped in there simply from the fact that they know how to play the bidding game.Thumper 76 wrote:Actually I would go as far as to say unless your name is Montana, Delaware, App State, or Seeds 1-5 you are going to have a tough time out bidding NDSU
