Why should App State be seeded/ranked ahead of EWU?

Post by dbackjon »

Assuming EWU wins (Idaho State) and App loses (Florida), both would be 9-2.

Both would have a loss to FBS (EWU's top 20, ASU's not ranked).
Both would have a loss on the road to conference mate (EWU's top 5-10, ASU's top 25 if they win)

EWU's OOC was a solid DII, and a good SUU.
ASU's OOC was a non-schollie, and a horrid NCCU.

So why should ASU be ranked ahead of EWU??

Because App State draws 30,000 a game.

If MSU beats UM in Missoula, I think MSU would be seeded ahead of EWU as well.

Are we just going to ignore the remainder of the games, or only look at the games you picked for this discussion?

Great point. MSU would be 9-2 as well.

1 point FBS loss (to unranked team).
Beat Non-schollie and D2
Wins over top ten EWU, top twenty Montana

Bad loss to decent NAU, when NAU had QB healthy.

No, please bring those in as well for discussion points. Looking at their results, I found them to be mostly a wash.

I just think the Big Sky AQer will get a seed over the "co-champion", especially considering they won the head to head matchup.

Also, these dbackjohn threads calling Appalachian State overrated always remind me he still owes me a hat for our bet last year... on whether App State or Northern Arizona was a top-10 team. Pay up stfu. 8-)

CWU finished regular season 8-3. They would win the Pioneer, be competitive in the Patriot and MEAC.

They aren't even a top-25 D-II team:

Does Auburn count Chattanooga as a win over a "solid D-IAA"? You think it makes any sense for them to try to count it as a solid win?

I actually just kinda stopped reading after he called SUU good.

6-5, with two close FBS losses, close loss to EWU and NAU.

Only one bad game - to Texas State

Yes. Chatty is a good team. Not a great team, not a sucky WCU-like team.

:blah: If this weren't the third straight year we had to listen to how good SUU's many losses were, we might believe you.

They are a team that has improved each year...just can't get over the hump. Again, they are a good team, not a great team, but not a crappy team.

IOW, they can lose with the best of them. They basically improved by beating Cal Poly instead of losing to them.

SUU's QB (transfer from BYU) would put up at least 21 points and 300 yards against UD.
