It doesn't matter who the R's run. Obama is going to win re-election. The African Americans will come out in droves to vote for him again, just like they did in 2008.
If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism. Ronald Reagan, 1975.

Yup.
I bet Republicans have really been regretting the "Southern Strategy" the last few years.

I'm certainly no fan of Obama, but if Palin is the only alternative I'll write someone in.

Incumbents only need one slogan: don't change horses in midstream. Works the vast majority of the time.

This. And if it comes down to Obama vs. Palin it will virtually be game over America.AZGrizFan wrote:And if (God forbid) she is the Republican candidate, it will GUARANTEE my vote goes independent (which it most likely will anyways)....

but as you guys are so fond of pointing out - I didn't vote for Obama I voted against the senile old dude he was running against - right - nobody voted a second time for Bush they voted against Swift Boat advertisements - or whatever
Keep that in mind when you are critical of all the Obama voters...
a HUGE percentage were voting for whoever ran against status quo McBush part 2
Bush once....in 2000 most voters wanted someone else.

Palin on the tube this AM, saying she would take Obama in an election today. Polls say otherwise.
Looks like she puts herself at the top of the list right now, she's doing everything she can and should do to increase her name recognition in plenty of time to build a lot of momentum with prospective voters.
Everything, that is, except making inroads in the Republican party.

She'll be 3rd party, or the 3rd party will get more votes than she does in 2010.

Re: Palin in 2012
If the GOP nominates Palin, Obama wins in a land slide.
The core group of people that will vote for Obama (extreme left & blacks) is larger than the core group that will vote for Palin (extreme right).
The middle will either not vote or vote third party/write in.
The dems are probably printing up Palin 2012 bumper stickers at this very moment.

But the real point is..the GOP has to deal with Palin, and the sooner the better. She will be laid upon the altar..BlueHen86 wrote:If the GOP nominates Palin, Obama wins in a land slide.

by her party, to rid her of her party. It's the only sane and reasonable answer to get the crazies to fuck off and let the party move more mainstream.

She is a bit of a problem...
As one buddy of mine who is a Republican put it:
"Had McCain known what would happen after lifting her out of the mud and putting her in the lime light, he probably would have left her right where she was when he found her... Mayor of a town of 7,000 people in the middle of Bum-fart nowhere..."
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?

Jelly, Bloomberg has all the charisma of a head of lettuce. He's a legend in his own mind, but he wouldn't do nearly as well as Perot in a 3-way race. "Remote" is absolutely right.Skjellyfetti wrote:Michael Bloomberg. But, that's a remote possibility, imo.Gil Dobie wrote:

I wouldn't vote for Palin either. The one thing she's good at is self-promotion. Keep the white trash out of the White House.

God I hope so. Leeza Mircowski being the first write-in candidate to win a senate seat since Strom Thurmond in the 50's is a positive sign. If the recovery continues to stall and no strong candidates emerge, third party and alternative candidates might become a viable trend.Gil Dobie wrote:Is there a third party candidate that could rise up and pull votes from the Dems and Reps?AZGrizFan wrote:
