Flacco vs. Edwards Part II

Post by HenZoneNation »

Ravens vs. Panthers this week. I didn't think that AE would be an NFL starter but I don't understand why the Panthers won't give this guy a chance. Too much talent for a team with 1 win to bench. I'd love to see him on the field, in an ideal world at the QB helm, and watch this game...As much as I hated him in 07 I have to say I'm an AE fan...

I think Joe takes this one though.. ;)

Yeah. This game is going to be ugly. And Armanti won't see the field. Panthers are starting Brian St. Pierre at QB. He was a stay at home daddy last week. :ohno:

Off the practice squad shows they think highly of AE. He will be around for a while. Joe by a bunch.

I think the Panthers 'D' will match up well with the Ravens 'O'

NOT vice-versa

:ohno:

Flacco gets as many yards as he wants (fortunately for my fantasy team  ) and AE has no hand in the loss.

I also don't understand the reluctance to play AE. It's almost as though Fox has conceded defeat -- too bad, I think he's a good coach.

But on another note, congrats to Josh Vaughn on his first NFL TD! I'm sure both Flacco and AE remember that guy. :)

Andre Roberts had his first NFL TD a couple weeks ago against the Vikings. It was a 30 yard pass from Anderson, and Andre ran around 2 or 3 Vikings defenders on the way to the end zone. It has been a spotty first year for him, but it looks like he is finally settling down.

Three years ago, Joe Flacco and Armanti Edwards were on a collision course for a college title.
Flacco's well ahead now, able to salve his previous wounds with the knowledge he's growing into a top NFL quarterback.
The Baltimore passer was on the short end of the scoreboard the last time he saw Edwards, with his Delaware squad losing 49-21 to Appalachian State in the 2007 FCS Championship.
Edwards was the star that day, leading the Mountaineers to a third straight national title, but said he saw enough of Flacco on film to know his counterpart from that game was on track to become a factor in the NFL. The Mountaineers had to watch defensive film of Richmond and James Madison, against whom Flacco led the Blue Hens to 93 points.
"You could tell he could definitely sling it," Edwards said with a grin when asked what that tape revealed. "He'd be on the left hash and make the throw to the right sideline. We saw that in him.
"With our offense, we always prepared for shoot-outs."
These days, Flacco's the one with more bullets.
Since his rookie year, the Ravens have surrounded him with talent, allowing him to ease into the NFL game while making a jump in level of competition. This year, however, he's taken on more of the burden himself.
Since Week 3, Flacco is the league's highest-rated passer (107.2), with 14 touchdowns and two interceptions. He said the game's slowed considerably for him in recent years, but with a 26-15 record, it's not as if he's ever struggled.
"As you get older and you're in the league for longer and get more experience, it's easier to identify things and you can play faster," Flacco said. "Obviously the key to the game is pressure and things like that but I believe you have to get to a point where you can see everything at a slowed down level so you can play faster, more comfortable and confident. I think the biggest thing is to play confident and the only way to do that is to make sure you know what's going on with the other side of the ball and be able to play full speed and get the ball out on time.
"I think that's the biggest thing, having your offense and defense down so that you can go out there and play confident and play worry free. I think no matter what you're going to continue to get better as you go on."
As to Edwards, Flacco said he was sure in 2007 he'd see him again.
"I figured he would get a shot somewhere since he is such a good athlete," Flacco said. "He is able to do a variety of things and some team is going to find him very valuable, so we will see how it goes. ...
"Yeah they jumped on us quick and they had a lot of speed and he was a part of that. They had a really explosive offense that year and they were able to score points and hold us down early so obviously he is a great college player at Appalachian State. It was a lot of fun getting to that Championship game but they didn't make it a lot of fun once we got here."
