Nike getting NFL jersey rights...and going pro combat?
I found this link browsing Bisonville.
Apparently Nike gets the NFL jersey rights from Reebok in 2012, and there is talk of them going "pro combat" with all of the jerseys. Here is the link

It's about time. Not saying I agree with the pro combat deal, but Reebok sucks.

Unfrikenreal. Do they not know that part of the allure is tradition? FUCK NIKE. I will never buy another piece of Nike merchandise if they unveil these pices of shit.Skjellyfetti wrote:lol

Guys, these aren't real. They're a mock-up done by someone, predicting IF Nike were to go to Pro Combat for NFL.
Nike didn't make these.

Re: Nike getting NFL jersey rights...and going pro combat?
As someone in the thread he posted said, Nike doesn't have NFL yet, so they couldn't put these out. This is some kid with photoshop...

Look in the upper right corner.
Also, the Bucs one is stupid. We didn't spend all that money to rebrand the entire franchise to have that flaming pirate put back on our helmets.

While these may not be real... be prepared people. Nike has said this already... "We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we've done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available. The NFL program hasn't had the same type of advancement in recent years."
Re: Nike getting NFL jersey rights...and going pro combat?
Yeah, that doesn't mean they're going to change the branding.
And I think the main issue is how terribly done these photoshops are.
But I'm pretty sure a lot of Nike's improvements will actually be technical... things like seamless jerseys, better materials, etc.

They will shirk tradition and do something that will excite the ladies with a brand new fashion so they can all look at it and say "Oh those new Patriot uniforms are SO CUTE!"UNHWildCats wrote:While these may not be real... be prepared people. It will continue to move away from the toughness to accommodate the new fans and make it more palatable for all.

While the new jersey technology will be a big part of it....I have a very bad feeling they will take a lot of the jerseys and do something stupid with them.ToTheLeft wrote:Yeah, that doesn't mean they're going to change the branding.

Except the teams like the Cowboys, Raiders, Bears, Packers, etc... that have had the "same jersey" forever

Re: Nike getting NFL jersey rights...and going pro combat?
I wouldn't surprised if every team had an alternative jersey that was a bit out there. Nike isn't scared to step outside of the box. But for some of these teams, especially the Vikings there would be a fan revolt if they wore these as their main uniforms.
Re: Nike getting NFL jersey rights...and going pro combat?
Other than Oregon, who didn't really have a tradition to get pissed off about ruining, how many times have schools with "historic" uniforms worn a pro combat? Twice in the past few years?clenz wrote:While the new jersey technology will be a big part of it....I have a very bad feeling they will take a lot of the jerseys and do something stupid with them.ToTheLeft wrote:Yeah, that doesn't mean they're going to change the branding.

Alternates aren't bad. I just don't like how some of the mock-ups change a team's branding. I can see an alternate or two being cranked out by Nike, and some new-look retro stuff. But they're not going to be putting out this stuff every week, at least I can't see the NFL letting that fly.
