yes they are terrible, and yes the MEAC is terrible.... but presenti8ng false facts wont help an argument regardless. Why will SC State get a at-large bid? Because they are South Carolina State. Had it been Morgan State or North Carolina A&T in their position they likely dont get in... but SC State has a recent history which will give them an upper hand. Though I still wont discount the chance that they step over the 7 win guideline this year and keep Montana's streak alive.siuham wrote:Spin aside.UNHWildCats wrote: since when is the truth a stretch?
Savannah State IS NOT part of the 2010 MEAC Football Conference... This is a FACT!
Savannah State is fucking terrible.
So is Miss Valley State.
Beating either means nothing and there's a reason the MEAC is the worst rated conference in FCS.

So when's the selection show and is it on ESPN2 again? Will it be a joke like last year?
Also, Liberty deserves an at-large over ANY MEAC team.

Re: The Field
My take... a less "cut and dry" version...
AQ's:
William and Mary
Montana State
Bethune Cookman
App State
Northern Iowa
Lehigh
Robert Morris
Coastal Carolina
Stephen F Austin
Jacksonville State
AL's:
Locks/Very Likely In:
EWU
Delaware
Villanova
New Hampshire
Western Illinois
Wofford
SEMO
GA Southern
That's 8
Then you need to pick 2 from:
NDSU, SCSU, FAMU, Liberty, ODU, Jacksonville, Dayton, CCSU, Duquense, Colgate
Not sure SEMO is a lock over Liberty. Both played Ball State, LU won, SEMO lost. But SEMO doesn't have a loss as bad as Coastal.
*** THIS IS ASSUMING THE COMMITTEE STICKS TO 7 WINS ***
If they take 6 win teams, add in JMU and Montana and Sac State to the mix.

Re: The Field
Colgate isn't getting in, nor is Duquense. I put them up since they're eligible, and will be a part of the process. You never know if one of those teams will be the "Maine" to the the other team's "William and Mary", if you catch my reference.
And FAMU beat BC-U, something SCSU couldn't do. I'm not sold on SCSU having any kind of resume to separate it from anyone...
If the committee really does put in SCSU because they played App well on ESPN and they're an HBCU who brings in $$$, then why put out a handbook that says you have criteria for selection?

There are criteria to make it in, and criteria to separate who should be in. Playing an all DI schedule (SCSU didn't) and an FBS team (NDSU and LU did and beat theirs, whereas SCSU lost to theirs) are specifically in the criteria.

What does the NCAA computer/human ranking machine say?
I am betting some teams with 8 or 9 DI wins don't get in at the expense of those from the traditional power conferences.
CAA, Southern and Big Sky.
I am leaving out the MVC just to show DJH he really needs to get off of Montana's dick. Whiner.

Also there is nothing... NOTHING about FBS opponents in the criteria.
Re: The Field
It says may a lot of times Travis, don't get your panties in a wad over stupid technicalities.
And I coulda sworn it mentioned FBS opponents. My mistake. Regardless, it's just as likely the committee will look at that as it is that they'll look at last year's playoffs and see SCSU playing App on ESPN.

I'd take NDSU, but I'm not really sure what to do with my last pick. I'd probably pick Jacksonville to throw the PFL a bone, though this would unquestionably piss off Dayton.
When all is said and done, the end goal is to crown a champion, and I don't think any of the 8 left over to choose from would logically be considered contenders for that.

SC State hasn't beaten a single team worth a damn. If they were in the CAA they would be somewhere between 0-8 and 2-6. If SC State got in it would be the biggest joke ever....

Re: The Field
SCSU beat NC A&T this week, who were ranked in the 120's in the GPI, LU beat Stony Brook, who was in the 60's. LU was already ahead of the Bulldogs.
Neither team has a better resume than Sac State, Montana, or JMU, but if they stick to 7 wins, LU belongs in over SCSU.

fair enough, but according to those rankings South Carolina State even though 50th overall is still 21st among playoff eligible teams... Jacksonville is ahead of them as is Liberty.BDKJMU wrote:GPI? Heading into this weekend:SeattleGriz wrote:What does the NCAA computer/human ranking machine say?
