Not suprising though. MSU and EWU were so close it makes sense to have them play in a rematch.

It sucks for the Big Sky, but the top of the bracket was wide open this year any combination of seeding would have been reasonable.

I agree. They could have at least out us on either side of the bracket, Jesus. :ohno: What's more, we'll have to travel to Bozeman for the quarters if both teams with their first games.

On the flip side, most MSU fans are dismissing us because of that loss back in September. A re-match in the quarters would be very interesting, indeed. :thumb:

Looks like the autobid teams with head to head wins were seeded higher in both scenarios. Did they not get your spreadsheet? ;)

SC St has played well in the playoffs recently. That may have factored into which conference (MEAC or Big South) was more deserving of a second bid this year.
SC St. is EIGHT and TWO. Not an all DI schedule.

They had no wins worth ANYTHING and the loss to B-CU is bad in the computers, but apparently the committee was infatuated with the worst conference in football, since B-CU got a bye.

I guess the money the MEAC brings trumps resume. Just put Montana in in that case.

And if recent history played into it, then I'm done with this stupid system.
If you are going to discount their D-II win, then you also have to discount their D-I loss.
SC State is EIGHT and ONE.

And yeah, history does play into it. Not so much from an individul team stand point, but from a conference standpoint. If a conference gets multiple bids and they all lose in the first round, that conference my not get multiple bids the following year. Similiarly, if a conference gets one bid and that team plays well that conference's chances of a second bid improve.

NDSU was the last team in and Liberty was the last team out according to our AD. Sounds like the NDSU game will be at 3 or 6 pm.

As opposed to having to travel to Boone, Williamsburg or Newark.

I can understand that you are not happy being the 5 seed, but if you are gonna be stuck with the 5 seed, I think you got the best possible 4 seed, at least from a travel stand point.

So, let me get this straight:

3 7-4 teams from the MVC get in?

The 7-4 conference CHAMP from MVC has to play in a play-in game, yet a 7-4 third place CAA team (UNH) gets a pass in the first round?

The Big Fucking South gets two teams in? And one is 6-5 Coastal Carolina? Coastal Fucking Carolina? Who's signature win is Liberty? Coastal Fucking Carolina? Who lost to TOWSON??? I mean, if you're going to choose a 6-win team, how about one who actually WON their conference, like SUU? Or Chattanooga, or Elon, or Montana, or McNeese St., who actually play in real conferences?

This whole process has officially jumped the shark.

I was sure Montana wouldn't be in the playoffs, but to NOT be in the playoffs and then have them select Coastal Carolina is a goddamned joke.

I won't be watching.

CCU won the Big South, they had the edge in points allowed. Only one Big South team got in.

So then you discount their FBS loss, what do you do with LU's FBS win? That's not fair at all.

And what has the MEAC done the past couple years to deserve anything? SCSU playing App on ESPN and people watching? And the Big South only ever had one chance, and it was CCU against App, which isn't fair at all.

Not to mention that playing FBS games doesnt really hurt (see App/Fla) so the fact that SCSU lost to GA Tech and Lib beat Ball State didn't hurt SC State as much as the 3 FCS losses for Flames vs only 1 for the Bulldogs

Then put in Dayton, who beat someone. Heck, Jacksonville beating ODU is better than anyone SCSU beat!

I'd be okay with a PFL team getting in ahead of us, or JMU/Montana/UMass/Richmond/SUU. But not SCSU.

I agree. They could have at least out us on either side of the bracket, Jesus. :ohno: What's more, we'll have to travel to Bozeman for the quarters if both teams with their first games.
First and foremost. this is the playoffs. If you're in, you control your own destiny. If you have a great team, you show it on the field. The best team will be the champion. I love FCS for this.

Second, you have to pay for this wonderful system. Given the lack of support from Spokane (20 miles from Cheney), A #5 seed is the best Eastern can ever hope for. You have to have fans in the seats to pay for this thing. Spokane simply is not a big enough sports town to support this sort of thing.

Eastern is clearly doing a great job on the field, and I think with they are going over the top off the field trying to promote the program, but Spokane appears to be Spokane, and won't support winning college football. I've heard the argument that they support the PAC-12 team Wash St. a 150 miles away. That really isn't true either, they have one of the lowest attendences in all of BCS. Spokane is just a rotten city for college football.

The potential rematch with MSU in Bozeman is financial too. Keeping SEMO, NDST, and MSU in the same bracket manages travel costs. MSU has better fan support for a 3rd round game. This is because they have better fan support from Bozeman, than Eastern gets from Spokane.

Eastern can be happy with the #5 seed, and an opportunity to show just how good their program is in the playoffs.

Go Eags!

If it's about not losing, put in the PFL teams, who beat someone.

If it's about good wins, put in JMU or UMass.

If it's about money, put int he Griz.

No reason to put in SCSU.

From a travel perspective, I will definitely agree with you. It also sets up a potential re-match with MSU, which is intriguing.

I am not happy about a #5 seed. I don't think EWU's resume is any worse than the 4 teams seeded ahead of them.

#1 App - Losses against GSU & Florida
#2 W&M - Losses against 6-5 UMASS, FBS UNC, and 6-5 JMU.
#3 UD - Losses against W&M and Nova
#4 MSU - Losses against FBS Wazzu, and 6-5 NAU
#5 EWU - Losses to #4 seed MSU, and 10-1 Nevada, ranked #18 in FBS

Bill & Mary have 3 losses, including 2 in their conference. How the fuck are they the #2 seed? :ohno:

I did count it.

Liberty is 8-3
SC St is 8-1 (or 8-2 if you don't want to count the DII game; or 9-2 if you want to count all the games they actually played), either way their recond is better than Liberty's

It's not like Liberty plays in a conference with a great history of FCS success.

I think Montana has more of a gripe than Liberty.
