i've said this before on here but it bears repeating - as an NDSU fan I know full and well why everyone hates our fan base (hell, it's why I don't care for our fan base), and it's something Eastern fans should be aware of... running your mouth when your on-field performance doesn't rise to the level of your superlatives is a way to become the Notre Dame of FCS (I fear the Bison, thanks to many, many fans who do this already are there already) everyone loves it when they lose because their fans talk junk and their team frequently falls short of their hype.

talk junk when your team produces on the field - but even then... as most of the Bison fans have learned over the years - everyone loves it when the guy who runs his mouth gets his comeuppance... better to be humble than to be a joke (MplsBison leaps to mind)

OK, so how many more reasons other than history, dollars and close losses do you need? Since Sagarin is so important, should we go based upon the fact that he's got UD ranked as the highest FCS team?

I know the controversy and disagreement are the lifeblood of a message board, but everyone still actually has to win football games to be a champion. It all works itself out at the end of the day. JMU won the tourney in '04 with all their games on the road. UD was in the championship in 2007 with the 13th seed and only 1 home game in the playoffs. In short, EWU is a top 5 seed. Take care of yourselves and it will all work out. Your road to the semis is probably as easy as it comes if history is any indicator.

You might want to try reading the entire thread for context before you comment. If you do, you'll find that:

1) I have very little problem with where we're seeded and actually think the bracket works in our favor.

2) Was making the point that even though history and $'s aren't suppose to matter in the seeding process, they clearly do which leads to...

3) Part of the reason Delaware got seeded ahead of EWU while admitting that UD's Sagarin ranking was also a factor. But if you were to put Montana's name behind EWU's resume I bet Delaware would be the 5th seed and we would be the 3.

If I misunderstood you, I'm sorry. There's plenty of incoherent slang being tossed about that's creating interference.

Here's where I'll leave it: Past playoff, school, conference, coach, whatever performance should be used heavily in the seeding. There might be no better predictor in both subjective and objective analysis.

So as an NDSU fan, you have no room to talk. NDSU doesn't have a NC in FCS this decade either. Hell, you've barely made the playoffs for the first time this year.

EWU has made the playoffs 5 out of the last 7 years. Yes, we're only 2-4 (3-4 in less than two weeks), but those two wins were against top-2 seeds. Our 4 losses were by a combined 18 points. If we get blown out, then we have no room to talk. But we haven't.

And as far as talking shit to MSU... yes, they kicked our ass early in the season. We've gotten a lot better since then, and TJ was injured going into that game, and didn't play in the second half. I HOPE the Kittens win and we get a rematch... it will be very different; In the last month, BLM is 60/95 (63%) for 698 yds, 8 TDs, and only 1 INT. In the previous 8 games, he was 150/263 (57%), 17 TDs and 10 INTs.

One point that I don't remember being brought up in this thread is that while all five come from power conferences, App, MSU, and EWU only have on FCS loss. MSU wins the head to head against EWU, but App's loss to GSU is better than MSU's loss to NAU. W&M goes a head of EWU with more quality wins and because the BSC isn't strong enough to warrant 2 seeds ahead of both CAA schools.

But I don't think App or anyone needs to apologize for going through a good conference with only one loss or for narrow victories.

Last year we were 9-2 with a win over a FBS (and yes last year we also beat a conference foe who made the playoffs) and did not get a seed. The second round (see "winning first round game") we went to seeded SIU (1,2) and pounded them at home. We then had to replay Villanova and lost by 1 at their place.....

This year we beat three conference foes who are in the playoffs. If you are feeling underappreciated, go on the road and beat a seeded team.......... It looks like you guys have had a solid season, and are peaking late......if that is the case then not being seeded should not be an issue.

UR in 2008 was not seeded and was on the road for 2 of 3.

If it's directed at me, I don't neccessarily disagree, but my response would be that was last year, and we've won against seeded teams on the road. Home field is a reward.
