Re: Punkin Chunkin
It's pretty boring in person, but worth going to once. I haven't been to the newer site in Bridgeville. I went many moon ago at the original field on Rt 1 right outside of Milton.
The competition was a few weeks ago, always the first weekend after Halloween. It's pretty cool that Discovery started covering it a couple of years back.
One of these days, they're going to get one over a mile. That's been the elusive goal for most of the air cannon teams. The wind hasn't been cooperating the past two years.

The last time I saw it on TV there were tree at the edge of the field. If a pumpkin wen't into the trees they didn't measure the distance. It sucked because the furthest shots weren't being counted. Have they solved that problem?93henfan wrote:It's pretty boring in person, but worth going to once. I haven't been to the newer site in Bridgeville. It's a non-issue at the current site. The field is well over a mile long. The old site (if you want to look on Google, it was the northwest quadrant of Delaware Rts 1 and 16 east of Milton) became too small as the cannons started passing half a mile. The church there (Eagle's Nest) wasn't nearly as big back then and was even further away from the current location, but it was starting to fall within impact range so they had to move.BlueHen86 wrote:The last time I saw it on TV there were tree at the edge of the field. Thanks. I've never been, but I've watched a few times on TV over the years. The last one I saw must have been the old site.93henfan wrote:It's a non-issue at the current site. This actually beats the Hens and WWE?!?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
