The left does anything BUT tell the truth to Americans about the realities of our society. When it suits, they exaggerate (gonna starve school children) and when they are out of political power, they fume and blame the ignorance of the average Americans.

Republicans do have a habit of overinflating the existence of an informed electorate, but as I said earlier (and I stand by it) Americans ARE, in general, smart enough to know when they are being talked down to and will punish folks at the polls when it happens. (And I do not mean by electing Palin.... )

She didn't immediately correct it. When prompted by the interviewer she responded that we are also obligated to stand behind our South Korean allies. According to her statements, we are allies with both North and South Korea.

Any politician with half a sense of history will know that the worst thing you can do during a populist wave is belittle the populists. Currently there are even some Republicans who do not get this. There has already been some punishment at the polls unless you have already mentally blocked out the bloodbath of a couple weeks ago.

I'm not sure what your point is here. But Palin is still around because there's a market for dumbing down. The McCain campaign had to recognize this or they wouldn't have selected her. And if you really doubt the regard both parties have the voters just look at the campaign ads. They've figured it out - we're dumb. But I agree that Republicans are much better at political theater and hiding their disdain.
