For months Republicans on Capitol Hill said we should wait for the Defense Departments study gauging support for the DADT repeal before moving forward.
Now that we know that 70% of those who responded support the repeal of DADT Republicans are making new excuses.
“I’d like to know who these 70% are,” said Rep. Buck McKeon of California, the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee
“I’m doing everything I can to defeat it.” Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.),
Bets yet probably is Susan Collins who claims she supports the repeal, but says she will vote against it unless more time for debate is added.... as if 15 years debating the matter isnt enough.
A majority of Americans want the repeal, a majority of service members want the repeal, a majority of conservatives in America want the appeal.
Its time for Congress to do what their employers want. Repeal DADT Now!

I'm disappointed in Susan Collins......especially since it has been widely speculated that she is a closet lesbian.UNHWildCats wrote:Bets yet probably is Susan Collins who claims she supports the repeal, but says she will vote against it unless more time for debate is added.... as if 15 years debating the matter isnt enough.

Fixed the title for you there Travis - Obama could've repealed DADT anytime he liked while he had a veto-proof majority in the Senate and he chose not to. DADT was established by a Democrat and could've been repealed by a Democrat, and yet it lives on...

Agreed - this thing should've been done two years ago. Blaming it on McCain now is just politics. Why politics trumps doing the right thing is something that politicians seem adept at doing.Rob Iola wrote:Fixed the title for you there Travis - Obama could've repealed DADT anytime he liked while he had a veto-proof majority in the Senate and he chose not to. That's easy, start at the lowest ranks and go up.UNHWildCats wrote:For months Republicans on Capitol Hill said we should wait for the Defense Departments study gauging support for the DADT repeal before moving forward.

It's sad that we have so-called leaders that are ashamed of who they are.
