I think at this time of year with the weather being what it is you can throw a lot stats out the door. Passing games are going to be limited to short to intermediate attacks.

NDSU has a massive offensive line avg 300 lbs across the board and their freshman OT is very mobile. They come right at you (like last years Griz teams) and you have to gear up to stop the run/screen game. The one thing that was mentioned during the game was that Robert Morris did not sub out their defensive line all game or did it on a limited basis. MSU defensive line goes 2-3 deep and we sub a lot. I think that it will be important that the linebackers fill their running lanes effectively. It looked to me that the QB locked onto #81 a ton (he is talented receiver). Their QB looked to me like Mitchell (from EWU) looked liked earlier in the year where his timing was just off with his receivers. MSU has faced power running teams before and have done alright.

Offensively there is really nothing that scares me about NDSU. Just have to gear up for a very physical ball game.

When MSU takes the field they will have to be aware that NDSU's defensive line does a good job getting their hands up in the passing lane. MSU doesn't really have a power run game but will stretch the play from side to side looking for a crease. We do a pretty good job passing blocking and getting the Qb on the edges to make plays. It seemed to me the NDSU's defensive line really controlled the line of scrimmage against R. Morris and allowed their linebacker to run free to make the play. The plays the R. Morris was successful in running is a specialty of the Bobcats so it will be an interesting battle.

Excellent points you raise. I agree, the offense is nothing to fear unless a consistent vertical passing game magically develops. Running the ball and screens are the bread and butter for the Bison offense.

On defense the Bison stop the run between the tackles well with an above average defensive line. I've noticed this year, from mobile QB and RB alike, that most big gains have come on the edges. For some reason the defense seems out of position or a step slow right away. If Montana State capitalizes early, it could be a long day for the Bison.

It'll be interesting to see how the true freshman safety Heagle plays, he had some nice stuffs at the line or in the backfield against RMU and seems to have a natural nose for the ball.

I'm not going to venture out and say anything about MSU, because quite frankly, I haven't watched them play and am not going to make any guesses based on stats!

Heagle is a special player. He's going to be a fun one for us Bison fans to watch over the next 3 years if his freshman year is any indication of how he will continue to play. The D is the strength of this team for sure. That will be the key to this game. If our D keeps your offense out of the endzone and isn't on the field to much we have a good chance in this one. If our offense can't sustain drives or starts out the game like they did last week we are in trouble. I expect a good game and don't really think it will be a blowout either way.

The Bison will need a big turnover or two to get a win in this one, unless the offense really comes around, which hasn't happened all year. Although we haven't had any continuity at the qb position due to injury and we finally have our best qb healthy and he got to shake off some rust against RMU, so I expect Jensen to be much better in this game as far as accuracy goes and he will need to be in order to get a W. Cats do have a big edge for two reasons..1) A bye week 2)Playing at home. Those are huge factors for a very young Bison squad to overcome, but on the bright side the Bison always seem to play well when they are the decided underdog. I won't make a prediction, but if the Bison can get a TO or two and keep MSU's qb from getting out of the pocket and ripping off big chunks of yardage on the ground we will have a great chance of winning. Damn I love this playoff sh**!! Heres to a great game on Saturday.

I understand he is in negotiations right now to establish his "Rainforest tailgate Camp" in a central location near the MSU football field as a place for all visiting NDSU fans to congregate.
