Obama said WHATEVER was necessary to get elected, then backtracked on half his promises after being elected. He could give a **** about accountability....he thinks HE alone knows what's right for the country....nevermind in many cases 55-60% of the country disagrees with them.

Was watching "The American President" with Michael Douglas last night and he had a GREAT line: "You don't get reelected telling 59% of Americans that they're wrong".

And that's exactly my point. That's accountability. You don't get that with a one term limit. If you only have one term... just do what you want. Fuck the 59%.

Then apparently Obama is only planning on one term because, on three VERY BIG ticket items (bailouts, healthcare, immigration) he is bucking the national trend and attempting to convince 59% of the people they are wrong. .

Ok. And I'm pretty sure we weren't discussing the 2012 elections... but, you keep wanting to bring it up. What we were discussing is accountability and whether or not politicians are held accountable for their votes. They are. And you agree with me... but, you just want to argue about something else just so you can argue.

I do not believe in term limits; even for Presidents. I believe that if someone wants to run for office and the People want to vote for them that's just the way it is. The People should not be denied the option of voting for who they want to vote for just because who they want to vote for has served for some particular duration.

However, I do believe it'd be better if we had a part time legislature. I don't think being a Congressman should be a career type job. Don't know exactly how to get to that though.
