I thought the drubbing last year was a fluke, but apparently not. The Southland is officially second tier.

Wow, SFA, that's the last time I speak up for you.
Outscored 37-3 since the first quarter…
Just like the Missouri Valley last week, the only CAA team to lose is the highest ranked one.

Yeah, I was trying not to extrapolate Montana's win last year to SFA, but looks as if I should have.

Re: Nova @ SFA Game Thread
check back to some scores from earlier years....all teams. Maybe this year but not always. (ok, I know we haven't been there alot but we had only 1 of our 4 games that I consider a bad loss and it wasn't this bad.)SeattleGriz wrote:No kidding.RichSpiders wrote:Welcome to the CAA SFA ......

Honestly, I can't speak for other teams cause I didn't pay attention before 2005 and I'm not going back to check scores. But this is not the time to argue it. I told you all how they could/would stop SFA and they have done so.
Maybe we get a new coach and come back and make a good...........oh fuck, we can't. Damn I hate that. I am so not looking forward to playing in the desolate toilet bowl

I think the fluke is when they don't get blown out in the playoffsSeattleGriz wrote:No kidding.RichSpiders wrote:Welcome to the CAA SFA ......

I have to agree with that statement. Our whole conference sucked this year and wasn't just real great last year, either.AZGrizFan wrote:They play a different brand of football in the Southland....and it's apparently no very good as of late.SeattleGriz wrote:

My god, outscored 47-3 after the first quarter.

Re: Nova @ SFA Game Thread
As much as I talk up the SLC on here, I'm really not delusional. But it's the conference my team is in and I support that. I know we are middle of the pack in this respect. Not as bad as some but not the top ones either. I still have to support them, though. I believe the SLC rates out as 6th? or something like that.
As in SFAs case, you need the whole team and a balanced team to make a run like this. We had that in 2005, but not since. That's why I said, on another thread, that I would not have wanted us in the playoffs last year if we had gone 8-3. I think we would have just embarrassed ourselves again. We had no running game, with Bush out, and you can't get anywhere in the playoffs without one. Even with Bush we probably would not have gotten far. I'd rather they sat home than see that happen to our team. Losing to UM 31-13 was bad enough

When SFA's your conference rep....what do you expect? They survived a division II school in UCA last year by 3. Did much better this year, but what a depleted team. I think the SLC gets two in next year..and it won't be SFA or Texas State.
